Job Description

As a Technical Product Owner at the PRI, you will be responsible for managing the technical lifecycle of the product, including architecture, integration, delivery, and in-life optimisation. Reporting to the Lead Product Owner, this role bridges business and technology, working across internal teams, engineering partners and external vendors to deliver scalable, reliable solutions that support our signatories and PRI’s mission.This role will focus on digital collaboration products that enable signatories to connect, share insights and participate in joint initiatives, ensuring the underlying platform is robust, integrated and fit for purpose.

Core Responsibilities

Managing product delivery – from beginning to end

  • Reporting to the Lead Product Owner, contribute to the technical roadmap for the product set, ensuring alignment to business priorities, technical dependencies, and platform strategy.

  • Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to translate business needs into clear, structured technical requirements, ensuring solutions are scalable, feasible and aligned to PRI’s wider ecosystem.

  • Own and manage the technical backlog, working in an agile way with engineering teams and vendors to deliver against priorities and ensure high-quality outcomes.

  • Manage the product through its technical lifecycle, including solution design, integration, delivery and iteration, ensuring alignment across systems (e.g. CRM, data platforms, web environments).

  • Define and document system requirements in sufficient depth to support development, including user journeys, data flows, integration points and acceptance criteria.

  • Support build vs buy decisions, contributing to technical discovery, vendor selection and evaluation processes where required.

Vendor management

  • Own the full vendor lifecycle, including leading RFP processes, vendor selection and onboarding, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements.

  • Manage vendor performance and delivery, overseeing outputs against scope, timelines and contractual commitments, and driving ongoing value and improvement from third-party partners.

Technical support, platform reliability and performance

  • Own technical support for the platform, ensuring clear processes for issue management, triage, escalation and resolution.

  • Work with internal teams and vendors to resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to users and continuous platform availability.

  • Identify root causes of issues and implement improvements to enhance platform stability, performance and scalability over time.

  • Monitor platform performance, usage and technical metrics, using data-driven insights to inform prioritisation, improvements and roadmap decisions.

Communication and stakeholder engagement

  • Work closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure alignment between business needs and technical delivery.

  • Communicate technical concepts, decisions and trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and implement changes to systems, processes and integrations resulting from product updates.

Understanding the implications of industry and technology trends

  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, platforms and integration approaches to inform technical decisions and future product development.

  • Identify opportunities to improve platform capability, efficiency and scalability through new approaches or tools.

Supporting us work better together

  • Contribute to improving team processes, tools and ways of working that enhance technical delivery, integration and product development.

  • Promote strong collaboration between product, engineering and vendor teams, ensuring efficient and effective delivery.

Person Specification

  • Technical product ownership or management experience, ideally within a SaaS, platform or data-driven environment.

  • Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions, including defining system requirements, integrations and data flows.

  • Experience working with APIs, system integrations and platform architectures, with the ability to engage effectively with engineering teams.

  • A demonstrated interest in new technology possibilities, including the use of AI to improve the speed and quality of output and product opportunities.

  • Experience managing third-party vendors, including delivery oversight and performance management.

  • Experience supporting live products, including managing technical issues, prioritisation and continuous improvement.

  • Developing project management skills, delivering to tight deadlines, managing competing priorities and collaborating across stakeholders.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders.

  • A collaborative and consultative approach, with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders, fostering an inclusive environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships, both internally and externally.

  • Pragmatic, proactive and solution driven approach. 

  • IT/Digital skills (Microsoft Office, JIRA, CRM, Asana etc.), including good understanding of agile delivery methodologies.

  •  Language skills, other than English, are desirable.

  •  A basic knowledge and awareness of the Investment Management industry with an active aspiration to learn and deepen signatory knowledge, is desirable.
