Job Description
The Role
Usborne is a multi-award-winning children’s publisher - we create a huge range of illustrated, imaginative, exciting children’s books and you can see our books here at usborne.com
We are looking for talented, enthusiastic and creative designers, who are keen to join our busy London-based production design departments.
You will be involved every step of the way in designing compelling digital and print ad campaigns as well as promotional materials for our new books, including social media images, website assets, trade adverts, presenters, standees, and posters. You will also be involved in creating designs for our special sales items such as boxsets and covers, working closely with the project manager to refine designs and copy, incorporate feedback and create print-ready files for Production.
No two days are the same, and these roles offer the opportunity to work with staff right across our organisation every day.
Experience
We are looking for designers at various levels of experience - you may have just graduated your studies in a design-led course or you may have a few years of experience in a similar design role, but be looking for the next steps in your career. Whichever, it is you must have a good working knowledge of Adobe CC - InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and have a passion for great design.
Our department is a busy one so the ability to juggle projects, communicate well within and outside of the team and be able to adapt to changes in direction is a must.
Terms and Conditions
We offer a 35-hour working week from our offices in Farringdon, London and once you have settled into the office you will be able to work from home under our 3:2 work arrangement where you can work up to 2 days a week from home.
In addition to our transparent salary grading structure, for this role we also offer a range of benefits including:
• 25 days paid holiday entitlement increasing with service to 30 days
• Life assurance
• Generous Pension Scheme
• Employee Assistance Programme
• 50% Discount on Company Books
We particularly encourage applications from black and ethnic minority candidates who are currently under-represented within this area.
