Job Description
The Staff Accountant position supports the Finance Team’s efforts to give excellent service to NOLS employees and students worldwide. Through this experience, you will be immersed in the world of finance and accounting - and get a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of one of the largest outdoor organizations in the world.
We are looking for someone excited about supporting systems in general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. You will assist other finance and accounting functions and provide backup to other tasks during leave.
This is an opportunity for a systems-oriented person with an eye for improving processes, and an excitement for working with a team.

Location: Lander, WY, USA.

Start Date: The target start date for this role is two weeks from the time of offer.

What does the Staff Accountant do?
Manage detail-oriented and high-volume data:
Enter daily deposits received into a computerized database and code to posting accounts
Balance daily bank deposits and ensure timely deposits
Assist customers with phone payments
Process student refunds weekly
Monthly general journal data entry and other month-end close support
Assist with processes and finance systems:
Assist accounts payable (A/P) scanning and processing invoices, data entry, filing, split A/P checks and mail
Assist accounts receivable processing sales reports, monitoring and reconciling customer accounts, resolving discrepancies where necessary, initial review of Wilderness Medicine refunds, help with monthly billing, track and file sales invoices
Assist in payroll processing by creating new employee files and filing employee paperwork.
Review employee travel reimbursements
Perform reconciliation processes and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures
In collaboration with Finance leadership team, plan and implement system improvements
Organize and assist with finance operations:
Collaborate across departments to ensure basic accounting needs are met
Assist with projects and other tasks as needed
Prepare documentation for the annual audit
Assist with physical in-office and electronic organization of files
Pick up and distribute department mail daily and maintain office supplies
