Job Description
Reports to: Chief Executive
Responsibilities: Grants (£4m annually), Helpline (75,000 calls annually)
Information & Research team, Engagement team
Purpose of role:
Work with the CEO, SLT (including matrix working with the Director of Impact and Innovation), professional teams and volunteers to ensure the effective direct delivery of the charity’s objectives
Be a role model to staff and an inspiring leader to your team promoting diversity and inclusion in all decision making
Build and extend strong partnerships with other charities and intermediaries to maximise the reach and impact of Turn2Us’s mission, shape collective impact approaches and contribute to sector development
Ensure that accurate insight and analysis of our operating environment is used effectively to continually evolve our service offer so that we are seen as a leader across the sector
Lead new thinking and nurture new ideas from concept, through pilot into mainstream activity
Contribute to the collective leadership of the charity, supporting delivery of the business plan and strategy

Duties:
Strategy, leadership and relationship management
Lead the development and implementation of a strategy and plan for high-quality delivery of services
Design and measure the impact of relevant programmes and ensure ROI
Exemplify a desire to lead policy and thought-leadership on poverty and financial exclusion
Maximise opportunities to partner with other organisations to ensure people receive help at the earliest stage to prevent financial shock becoming a financial crisis
Deputise for the CEO in their absence
Effective leadership of the Grants, Helpline, Engagement and Information & Research services
Lead the development and continuous improvement of the grant-making process, from first contact, through application, disbursement and post-grant liaison
Ensure team ownership of our agreed organisational values and principles to enhance our working culture, working towards a fully diverse and inclusive working environment
Develop and lead analysis of, and response to, information and insights gained through our Information & Research activity, and/or direct contact via telephone helpline and community volunteers
Lead the overall coordination of the Engagement Team, including ensuring the development of compelling messaging and strategic partnership building, maximising reach and impact
Oversee the identification, management and support of partners including charities, agencies, networks, media and corporate partners
Instigate and manage new partnerships, and actively manage and maximise current partnerships
Monitor and evaluate all programme activities to improve their impact and provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders
Manage and oversee the work of volunteers, whether working as community/visitor volunteers or volunteers embedded with partners/intermediaries
Project management and cross-team integration
Work collaboratively, internally and externally, to ensure activity and messaging are aligned with organisational priorities and objectives
Ensure information exchange and knowledge-sharing between and beyond teams
Lead programme design and innovation, ensuring processes for reporting are efficient and effective; apply learning to drive efficiencies, increase impact and improve future performance
Work with stakeholders, including experts by experience,to co-create programmes
Ensure all staff are well informed of organisational objectives and clear on their deliverables against them
Embed a culture of right response to any safeguarding concerns which arise from our work
Commit to safeguarding as a core element of all the charity’s work
Highlight the importance of a ‘safeguarding-aware’ culture in the organisation and the sector
Design and implement an agreed safeguarding action plan for all teams
Ensure all staff are confident and competent in meeting safeguarding responsibilities
These are the normal duties which the Charity requires from the position. However, it is necessary for all staff to be flexible and all employees will be required from time to time to perform other duties as may be required by the Charity for the efficient running of the charity.
This Job Description is non-contractual. It will be reviewed from time to time and may be subject to change. The post holder will be expected to ensure that their work complies with contractual terms and conditions, the Charity’s policies and procedures and key legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and charity law.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Relevant qualification or experience gained at a senior level within a comparable role/organisation
Turn2Us is an Open to All signatory
Desirable
Affiliation/membership of a relevant sector/professional body
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
Essential:
Substantial experience driving successful partnerships and delivering programmes for the achievement of policy outcomes and public engagement
Development and implementation of services in an organisation similar in size/complexity, including managing and overseeing staff, volunteers and contractors in a complex organisation
A track record of innovation and driving change
Extensive experience of financial management including budget formulation, financial planning, monitoring and control, within tight financial limits in a complex organisation
Demonstrable success in sponsoring and managing projects
Effective use of research, analysis of information and data to inform service development
Experience of collaborative working with colleagues from other disciplines and matrix working across teams
Desirable:
Lived experience of financial shock/low income
Experience in managing a grants programme
