Job Description

About PUBLIC

PUBLIC is an ecosystem firm with a focus on GovTech (Government Technology) operating across Europe. We provide support, advice, insight and networks to startups and scaleups, corporations and government entities with the latest and most innovative ideas, helping them improve the lives of citizens through enhancing the services that governments and the public sector provide.

About Research & Intelligence

Our Research & Intelligence practice supports government and private sector entities to understand the impact of new technologies on the public sector by giving unique insights into the GovTech market. We therefore generate systematic and case based insights for GovTech investors, suppliers and users alike, making sure we transfer knowledge and insights across geographies, federal levels and the GovTech ecosystem to deliver the best possible outcome for our clients across Europe.

Your responsibilities

PUBLIC is looking for an excellent (senior) analyst with strong analytical skills to join our team and support the German team in assessing the needs of government and citizens for new technology, identifying best-in-class innovative solutions and suppliers, and analyzing the impact they could achieve. As (senior) analyst at PUBLIC you will be a key figure in building and maintaining our knowledge base for client projects, ventures and research projects alike. As such, you will need to be able to balance a high volume of different - and often spontaneous - tasks that change on a day-to-day basis, whilst also maintaining and managing the core scope and deliverables of your work. Your responsibilities will include:

Research & Delivery

  • In close cooperation with our leadership team in Berlin, support our numerous client projects and partners with unique insights from the GovTech ecosystem, ranging from market research, startup analysis, policy and investment insights;

  • (Co-)design and deliver bespoke resources (for example decks, reports, datasets) within the scope of our projects and partnerships to turn research data into clear findings and actionable insights;

  • Conceptualize and (co-)design the necessary frameworks, datasets and tools we need to deliver outstanding research and insights in a scalable, high quality way.

Market Positioning and Business Development

  • Contribute to overall Research & Intelligence development and positioning in collaboration with PUBLIC’s leadership team for the DACH region;

  • Work closely with PUBLIC's German/DACH leadership team as well as PUBLIC’s Research team across all PUBLIC offices to improve the services and offerings, create synergies within the organisation and beyond.

What you will bring to PUBLIC

We define ourselves by a culture of ownership and teamwork. We are looking for a driven, thoughtful professional to add to our vision:

  • 1-3 years of experience working in finance, government or public sector consulting with a focus on startups & venture capital and/or technology and digital transformation of the public sector;

  • Strong skills in writing and (statistical) analysis, ideally with hands-on experience working in a startup or startup-related field;

  • Strong interest in the startup and GovTech-related stakeholder scene in Germany and Europe;

  • Good understanding of the government innovation /GovTech space and passion to address these challenges through insights, ideally in the fields of procurement and/or Smart City/Smart Regions;

  • Experience and ability to work in an international, fast-paced work environment;

  • Excellent language skills in German (near-native, min. C1 level) and English.

We believe that in addition to hiring the best talent, a diversity of perspectives, ideas and cultures leads to the creation of better products and services. PUBLIC is an equal opportunity workplace.
