Job Description

As a PR and Content Executive, you would work with the Marketing and Communication team to deliver our external communications strategy, raising awareness of Working Families, and driving engagement with our key stakeholders.

About the role

  • Develop compelling and engaging content for a variety of channels, including press releases, blog posts, articles, social media posts, and website content.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets to secure coverage of Working Families’ initiatives, campaigns, and research.

  • Proactively pitch stories and press releases to relevant media contacts, ensuring accurate and timely coverage of our work.

  • Create yearly calendars, such as an awareness days, key national events and awards.

  • Assist with stewardship, including Working Families' ambassador and patron programme 

  • Collaborate with the policy, employer and legal teams to align with the comms activity

  • Facilitate the charity’s involvement with external fundraising events e.g. The London Legal Walk organised by The London Legal Support Trust 

  • Create and distribute monthly newsletters

  • Assist in the management of Working Families’ social media channels, creating content and engaging with followers to amplify our message and drive audience growth.

  • Monitor media coverage and social media engagement, track metrics, and provide regular reports on the impact of our communications efforts.

  • Ensure consistency and integrity of Working Families’ brand across all communications materials and channels.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of events and other public engagements to promote Working Families’ mission and initiatives.

  • Assist with the administration of the Parent and Carers panel

  •  Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies

  • Create and deliver annual surveys

  • Comply with, and fully participate in, all Working Families policies and processes, including the Fundraising Code of Practice 

  • Promote and participate in fundraising activities for Working Families  

  • Contribute to the wider Working Families team, undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed in PR and content marketing to enhance the effectiveness of our communications strategies

  • Attend monthly face to face team meetings in London (travel expenses covered by WF)

    Essential

  • At least 2 years experience in a PR or marketing role

  • Demonstrable experience of copywriting, media relations and digital marketing 

  • The ability to work proactively and independently, driving projects forward with minimal direction. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with and engage decision-makers.  

  • The ability to manage reactive and planned work.   

  • Great team skills and a preference for working collaboratively  

  •  Commitment to Working Families’ objectives and values (Collaborative, Practical, Inclusive, Driven)   

    Desirable  

  • Experience of working with tools such as Canva, scheduling tools, Mailchimp and CRM systems

  • Experience working in the charity sector  

  • Experience project-managing digital events / coordinating webinars
