Job Description

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Hall Capital Partners is an independent, privately owned SEC-registered investment advisor that builds and manages multi-asset class global investment portfolios for families, endowments, and foundations. Our Investment Research Group includes approximately 25 investment professionals, including the firm’s Co-Chief Investment Officers, who are organized primarily by investment strategies: public equity (long and long-short); absolute return (hedge funds, credit and distressed); private equity (buyout, growth, distressed, and venture capital); real assets (real estate, energy, timber); and cross asset research and strategy.

The Investment Research Group is seeking bright, thoughtful, and motivated rising college seniors from all majors, experiences, and backgrounds to join our team for the summer of 2020. The internship will begin in early June and run for 8 weeks. This opportunity is available in our San Francisco office.

The Research Intern position offers an opportunity to build a base of knowledge of investment strategies within and across asset classes, and to begin developing an ability to evaluate these strategies. The program is structured so that interns will work across various asset class teams within the Investment Research Group, with the majority of time spent on a substantial research project associated with a specific research team.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Be a contributing member of the investment research team across many aspects of the investment process, including participating in meetings with existing and prospective investment managers, developing quantitative and qualitative evaluations of investment opportunities, and monitoring and analyzing performance data and portfolio characteristics of existing investments.

  • Analyze the market environment within an asset class (e.g. stocks, bonds, private equity, real estate, energy, and alternatives/absolute return).

  • Research and prepare a thematic presentation on markets and investment opportunities for the investment research team and portfolio managers.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:

  • Are a rising college senior (you will be between your junior and senior year of college during the summer of 2020).

  • Possess a keen interest in developing a working knowledge of financial markets and investment research.

  • Enjoy working in a diverse team environment where collaboration and communication are highly valued.

  • Are an intellectually curious, creative problem-solver who is not afraid to ask questions.

  • Demonstrate strong analytical and presentation skills, in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Possess excellent organizational skills and a strong ability to balance time-sensitive priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

  • Prioritize operating ethically and professionally, demonstrate a strong sense of integrity, and consistently exercise good judgement.

Avoid the confidence gap: You do not have to match all the listed requirements exactly to apply. Hall Capital believes that our organization and culture is made stronger through diverse perspectives and experiences.
