Overall purpose of the post: 

To coordinate the work of the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) faculty across the National Institute of Teaching regions.  

We are looking for an experienced Coordinator to join one of our Campus teams. The candidate would need to be in commutable distance to London or Blackburn. They will support our Head of ITE Faculty and ITE Senior Programme Manager to coordinate the ITE programme alongside programme managers in each region, who are responsible for the proactive and effective planning and administration of all programmes within their regions.   

This is an exciting opportunity to coordinate the planning and delivery of the ITE programme across all campuses whilst we grow and adapt, and to work in close collaboration with colleagues nationally to ensure the provision is of high quality.  

This role would suit an individual that is keen to develop their HR and project management skills, as well as someone that enjoys regular contact and dialogue with our trainees, programme members, partners, tutors and facilitators. 

Main duties and responsibilities 

  • Responsible for ensuring all internal and external records are kept accurate and up to date including Single Central Records across regions, DfE Register, Tracker of Trainees, Mentor Attendance and Distribution Groups.

  • Responsible for ensuring all relevant stakeholders have appropriate access to NIoT systems including but not exclusive to MS Teams Tiles, Proxima, EdPuzzle and Apprenticeship One-File.

  • Responsible for registering the attendance for all trainees on Student Finance, ensuring applications are accurate and appropriate edits are made for changes of circumstance.

  • Responsible for liaising with the University of Birmingham team to ensure accurate record keeping, invoicing and the smooth administration of the PGCE programme.

  • Assisting the Senior Programme Manager with managing finances for the ITE Faculty, including invoicing for the School Direct & Assessment Only fees and raising Purchase Orders for any external work that falls under the ITE faculty.  

  • To draft and post programme updates for trainees and colleagues on Microsoft Teams.

  • To set up and help prepare key events for programmes, including the drafting of materials, printing, venue booking, etc. 

  • To support key events e.g. managing sign-in, etc.   

  • To support the Regional Principal, Head of ITE and Senior Programme Manager with all other administrative efforts around the School Direct and Assessment Only programmes.  This might include tasks like; helping to organise key meetings with our Associate Colleges, administrative tasks related to our other programmes (ITE, ECF and NPQ).

  • To support team coordination and team building activities 

  • To provide diary management and PA support as required 

    Essential Criteria 

  • A commitment to the aims of the National Institute of Teaching 

  • An interest in the education sector and a belief in the value of teachers and school leaders 

  • A proactive approach that focuses on solutions for the benefit of participants on programmes in particular   

  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.    

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.    

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software packages, such as Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as search engines and online databases   

  • Highly proficient in managing and monitoring processes which drive successful delivery of programmes and reporting   

  • A sensitivity to the requirements of different audiences and an ability to adapt style appropriately  

  • A track record of, or the potential to co-ordinate key events or programmes (ideally in the education sector)   

  • Knowledge of school HR processes and background checks

Desirable Criteria 

  • Previous experience in the education sector   

  • Previous expertise of supporting training in the education sector, especially within ITE

  • Previous experience of working in a remote and geographically distributed team   

  • Experience of using management information systems and/or various online learning environments, particularly Microsoft Teams   

  • Previous team co-ordination experience

Contract: Full time, permanent 

Salary: SO1 (£30,151 per annum + benefits) – London weighting applicable for candidates based in London
