Thank you for considering a Senior Youth Intervention Practitioner role with Redthread. We are looking to recruit a dynamic team member in our Birmingham Services primarily based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. you will support young people who are experiencing trauma or tragedy, and their families. You’ll work with them in the Emergency Department and on hospital wards, as well as supporting post discharge within the community. You will also deliver training to introduce Redthread and our local services, as well as awareness sessions for contextual safeguarding and exploitation.
Your role will be to take the primary lead in Birmingham Children’s Hospital (with cover at Queen Elizabeth and Heartlands Hospitals), holding and strengthening key relationships with clinicians, hospital safeguarding team and other key stakeholders. You will be responsible for the coaching and mentoring of the team, have line management responsibilities for a Youth Intervention Practitioner, and complete tasks delegated by the Team Leader / Regional Manager.
To do this well you need to be a people person; passionate about supporting young people, and excited at the prospect of working in a fast-paced and exceptionally busy environment. You’ll need a proven ability to work with high risk, vulnerable young people and an understanding of the impact intense, short term work can have. You must be a strong communicator: as comfortable building a relationship with a young person as you are liaising with our clinical colleagues. You’ll be keen to keep learning, seizing training opportunities at Redthread and continuously reflecting upon and improving your practice. You’ll have frontline leadership skills and experience.
