About Investor Education

Investor Education, develops and delivers education products, to support signatory progression and build responsible investment capacity across the globe, by converting PRI thought leadership into practical and applied educational content. The function has a dual mandate to disseminate knowledge, build capacity and effect change; and to deliver a diversified revenue stream to support the wide-ranging work of PRI. 

The primary business within investor education is the PRI Academy (a subsidiary of the PRI), an industry-leading online B2B training provider, delivering short, applied courses designed to upskill teams and professionals across the investment sector. Over the next three-years, there are ambitious plans to build out the PRI Education function, utilising PRI’s subject matter expertise to create, curate, and quality assure industry-leading training and education, so as to upskill investment organisations and professionals to drive the evolution of responsible investment and sustainable finance. The team will be responsible for building a portfolio of practical and applied online training courses to support our Signatories’ responsible investment progress, as well as exploring new delivery methods and partnerships to create an holistic educational ecosystem.

Job Description 

The Instructional Design Lead is responsible for leading the design and delivery of a portfolio of commercial learner centric digital training courses to build responsible investment capacity and capability across the globe, working alongside subject matter experts to create relevant and compelling course content supported by engaging and impactful learning design principles and activities.  

The postholder will also support in the development of integrated blended learning experiences combining live in-person delivery, virtual classrooms, webinars and online self-paced learning.   

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of applying instructional and learning experience design principles and methodologies in the end-to-end creation, development and authorship of e-learning courses​. Advanced knowledge of course authoring systems, in particular a high proficiency in the use of Articulate Rise and Storyline, and e-learning best practice is a prerequisite, together with experience using leading Learning Management Systems (LMS).  

You will be flexible and creative, have strong attention to detail and be able to work well independently. You will provide expert support to the wider PRI Investor Education team and work collaboratively with subject matter experts across the organisation. 

Core Responsibilities  

  • Scoping and developing new courses and updates, creating storyboards, ensuring desired learning objectives are met, and improving the learner experience, creating engaging, active, case-based learning; applying instructional design methodologies and best practice in course design, accessibility and pedagogy. 

  • Researching, authoring and editing new e-learning content, engaging and working with research teams and subject matter experts to translate technical content into targeted learning materials. 

  • Building trust-based relationships and networks across organizations to leverage their skills for content development & delivery. 

  • Working with the design team and videographers to create engaging and impactful multi-media content.  

  • Partnering with clients to create bespoke modules and content based on their specific needs or proprietary materials. 

  • Implement a rolling update process to improve engagement, accessibility or relevance of materials. 

  • Utilising course authoring tools, including Articulate and Rise to build, improve and update courses. 

  • Providing guidance on learning management, delivery systems and reporting systems, including the use of Scorm, CMI5 and xAPI. 

  • Implementing best practice in the delivery and quality assurance of content, assessments and reporting. 

  • Creating an effective process to capture learner feedback and course success to inform the ongoing development of the courses.  

  • Creating, reviewing and maintaining e-learning style guides. 

 Person Specification

  • Deep experience in instructional design, learning experience design and learning technologies. 

  • Experience working with technical subject matter experts to scope, design and lead the end-to-end development of impactful online industry training courses targeting professionals.  

  • Experience using course authoring tools, in particular Articulate Storyline and Rise, and at least one leading learning management system.  

  • Strong project management skills and knowledge of Asana would be beneficial. 

  • Experience conducting user research and feedback analysis to develop new learner centric products and improve existing offerings. 

  • Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills, with an ability to write clear and engaging educational content and audio scripts/video scripts. 

  • Strong IT skills and experience managing third-party service providers/contractors. 

  • Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard. 

  • A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others. 

  • Experience working with large institutional, global financial services organisations would be desirable.  

  • Ability to prioritise work and work effectively in a very fast-paced and international business environment. 

  • Degree or professional certificate in Instructional Design, Learning Experience Design, adult learning or related field, would be an advantage. 

  • An interest in responsible investment, sustainability and ESG (environmental, social & governance) issues will be highly regarded.
