About us

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Because we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. As an Equalities and Disproportionality Lead you will lead strategy, policy, improvement, and change in equality, diversity and inclusion across Camden.

The role

You will have the chance to work at the ‘cutting edge’ of diversity and inclusion. You will work with a core team of two Senior Policy and Projects Officers and the Director of Equalities and Disproportionality, co-designing the service’s ways of working from the ground up.

The postholder will be comfortable with supporting multiple project teams as well as coaching and supporting team members from a range of different backgrounds and levels of experience working in the team.

A key role will be in supporting capability and learning across the wider strategy family of directorate strategy teams and building confidence and skills from junior staff to senior leaders.

About you

As the lead for Equalities and Disproportionality, you will be responsible for the delivery and development of the Equalities and Disproportionality Programme of projects, delivering on the key objectives established by the council and Members. With demonstrable success in strategy development, project planning and delivery, you will have knowledge of best practice in reaching, engaging and representing those from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.

Other skillsets required for the role are:

  • the ability to deliver large, complex, multi-stakeholder programmes

  • the ability to negotiate and collaborate with senior officers to influence, shape and deliver programmes

To be considered for this post you will have a strong track record of delivering equalities, diversity and inclusion programmes of change in government and public services.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships to a range of audiences at senior levels across the organisation is also required for the role.
