Management Accountant (part qualified)

Purpose of Role

Responsible for supporting the month and year end processes and working with the HoF to identifying and implement process improvements

Key Accountabilities

Monthly reporting, quarterly reforecasting and annual budgeting

·        Responsible for a number of reconciliations and journals to support the month end process ensuring robust numbers and control

·        Support the Management Accountant (qualified) with analysis to develop the budget and reforecasts

·        Be the lead interface with the programmes team to answer financial queries relating to grants (financial records and payments etc)

·        Lead on invoicing and reconciliation of balances (notably intercompany) for Art Fund Services Limited (trading entity) and the Corporate National Art Pass (CNAP)

·        Lead on invoicing and annual reconciliation of rental income and service charges with our tenant

·        Administer the Art Fund investment portfolio (notably keeping compliance information up to date for each fund manager and preparing any investment trade documentation for review by the HoF)

·        Assist the finance manager with preparation of the quarterly VAT returns

·        Other adhoc projects as requested by the HoF (e.g. modelling new business and cost saving initiatives)

 

Finance processes and practices

·        Work closely with the HoF (and external consultants) to assess and implement improvements to financial process and practices (including the development of a finance handbook)

·        Provide staff training in relation to the new finance handbook and changes to processes and practices

 

Year-end & audit

·        Work closely with the Finance Manager and Management Accountant (qualified) on the preparation of a defined list of year-end reconciliations

·        Support the HoF to close the year-end books, prepare schedules for the auditors and responding to associated audit questions

PERSON DESCRIPTION

Qualifications

·        Part qualified accountant

·        Candidates with equivalent experience or qualifications will be considered

 

Knowledge

·        Charity finance and reporting requirements

·        Management accounting principles and techniques, including monthly management and annual statutory reporting

·        An understanding of financial control, processes and practices in a charity

·        Strong reconciliation and data analysis skills including the preparation of month end journals

·        Microsoft Business Central financial system

·        Power BI

·        Membership and / or grants giving organisation

Experience

·        Month-end and year-end processes and reconciliations

·        Providing analysis underpinning budgets and reforecasts

·        Excellent Excel skills

·        Good presentation skills

·        Assessing and implementing financial process and practice changes
