So, we need more young people to realise there could be a future for them in engineering and technology. About the role
This internship role supports delivery of the EngineeringUK (EUK) Data Strategy, with a focus on strengthening data foundations through Microsoft Fabric, structured data migration, and improved information governance. The postholder will undertake practical, hands-on work that contributes directly to EUK’s ambition to modernise and centralise its data estate, improve data quality, and build sustainable internal capability.
The role is London based at the EngineeringUK offices at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN
We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with options for some remote working however in the beginning we would expect attendance in the office 4 days per week.
Role responsibilities
Microsoft Fabric & Data Platform Support
· Support ingestion and migration of datasets into Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and semantic model structures
· Assist with validation of migrated data to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency
· Document data assets, data flows and dependencies to support long term platform ownership
· Work with teams to upskill on Power BI by helping create key dashboards (as approved by the Information Governance Team)
Data Migration & Rationalisation
· Support migration of data from legacy or fragmented sources (e.g. spreadsheets, SharePoint lists, legacy systems)
· Assist with identifying duplication, inconsistencies and opportunities for simplification
· Work with data owners to align datasets to agreed definitions and reference data
Information Governance & SharePoint Tagging
· Support tagging, classification and organisation of SharePoint content
· Apply metadata and support information management best practice
· Contribute to clear documentation and guidance to support staff adoption
Data Quality & Documentation
· Assist with basic data quality checks and issue logging
· Produce clear technical and nontechnical documentation
General
· Work in line with EngineeringUK values and support achievement of our organisational objectives
· Undertake any training and development as required for the role
· Any other duties and tasks as directed and required by your line manager

Person specification
Skills/competencies
Essential
· Recent graduate (or final year student) in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics or similar
· Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or SQL databases.
· Hands-on experience of Microsoft PowerBi or similar business intelligence dashboards.
· Understanding of data migration concepts
· Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
· Confident use of Microsoft 365
Desirable
· Awareness or experience of Microsoft Purview
· Familiarity with data quality or information governance principles
· Interest in education, public sector or not-for-profit data challenges

· Recent university graduate or final year university student
