Job Description

***THE PRIORITY DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 21ST***

About Us

The Sunrise Project is a global network of independent organizations united by a common mission: scaling social movements to drive the global transition beyond fossil fuels. We've developed a unique model that combines strategic grant-making with campaigning, supporting interconnected organizations to create powerful change aligned with our mission.

Sunrise Inc. is a proud member of The Sunrise Project network. Our organizational culture is dynamic and adaptable. We're committed to supporting our team members to thrive as we tackle the urgent challenge of climate change. We believe that a diversity of experiences and perspectives strengthens our strategies, teams, and movements.

About the Role

The Sunrise Project’s Global Research team is a highly collaborative team producing high-quality and timely research which enables The Sunrise Project and its partners to accelerate a global transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. The Senior Research Analyst - Corporate and Finance develops creative and nimble research solutions to empower our strategists’ and partners’ efforts to hasten progress towards a sustainable future. The role digs deep into the details taking a rigorous analytical and creative investigative approach to developing insights into opportunities and risks.

The Sunrise Project supports networks of organisations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organisations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and partner organisations.

About You

You are deeply curious, familiarize yourself with new knowledge areas quickly, and enjoy getting into the heart and details of research. You are open to sharing your knowledge, analysis, and insights while also being eager to learn from others. You approach research as a strategic tool for achieving organizational impact rather than pursuing knowledge for its own sake. You are keen to support our strategists and partners to ensure that our programs and strategies are both ambitious and focused on achieving our goal to accelerate a global transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

A typical day would see you undertaking a mixture of self-directed research; finding, inputting, and analyzing campaign-relevant data; collaborating with campaign and communications strategists on planning and execution; meeting with partners to gain information directly from the field, and providing insights and updates to ensure alignment with the external environment.

The Global Research program can only be effective by building and maintaining trust through consistently reliable and meaningful outputs and you are excited about maintaining those high standards while balancing comprehensive analysis with time-sensitive campaign needs.

Develop and implement appropriate research methodologies applying appropriate quality control processes. Establish collaborations and commissions research as appropriate (including defining terms of reference, managing contractors and budget, and assessing deliverables).
