This is a Full Time, and a maternity cover contract.

Summary

We are the nation’s Archive of England’s historic environment.  We commit to be open, relevant and reflective of all stories and places so we can better understand the historic environment and how it has shaped our rich and diverse cultural identities.  We curate a dynamic collection that tells the story of the shared memories and lived histories of places in England. 

What you will be doing

As a member of the Historic England Archive team (HEA), you will contribute to the better understanding of our collections - what we hold, its copyright and condition - and you will ensure that the content and assets are shared in accessible, inspiring and engaging ways with a diverse range of audiences.  Through your work, you will also support the delivery of material for the purposes of income generation and improved access. 

You are responsible for providing access to the Archive's holdings for a wide range of customers.  You are part of a team that provides a range of free and charged for services, relating to aerial photographs, archaeological information and architectural material.  You will be handling and copying physical and digital archive items. 

What we are looking for

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Relevant qualification in British archaeology or architecture and/or equivalent experience

- Customer service experience in a relevant environment

- Excellent team working skills

- Adaptable IT skills
