B Lab is the non-profit network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. B Lab creates standards, policies, and tools for business, and we certify companies — known as B Corps — who are leading the way. 

B Lab Europe was established in 2013 and since the B Corp movement was established in Europe, it has gained remarkable traction with 1,800+ certified B Corps in Europe. 

We are seeing ever growing interest in the B Corp movement in the Nordics with 130+ B Corps headquartered in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland and nearly 400 more B Corps operating in the Nordics market. The small Nordics team is international, creative, hard-working and committed to changing how business operates. The team is supported and works closely with the B Lab Europe team in Amsterdam.

B Lab Nordics is responsible for growing a thriving and inclusive B Corp community in the region, working with key stakeholders in the ecosystem, delivering the strategy, fostering new partnerships and initiating activities that create value to B Corps and the movement across the Nordics.

Overview

B Lab Europe is looking for a Nordics Manager to join our team and to help to lead the B Corp movement across Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Iceland. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader to craft the way forward for this small team of motivated and talented individuals.

The Nordics Manager plays an important role in strengthening and fostering the B Lab Nordics team. The role is responsible for–in close collaboration with the team–  further growing the pipeline of businesses aiming to certify as B Corps, and continuing to build a B Corp community which is strong, collaborative and inspired to stretch further in the impact they generate through their operations.

Additionally, the Nordics Manager has the responsibility to link to key players such as policy makers, business networks, incubators, academics, business schools, impact investment community, standards bodies, large corporates and motivated supportive individuals who have been trained as B Leaders to ensure the B Corp message is being heard widely.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage, and foster a small, diverse and intercultural team who are responsible for the B Corp community activities and for business development functions.

  • Work with the team to grow and manage the existing Nordics B Corp market. Facilitate business use of and engagement with B Lab’s tools, products and certification; 

  • Help to foster the Nordics B Corp community, seeking out opportunities that serve the B Corp community and its network; 

  • Execute the strategy and plan for the Nordics market that aligns with the global and European strategy of B Lab and ensure its delivery against key targets as well as the ability to drive forward our global theory of change in the Nordics.

  • Set and meet performance targets set in collaboration with B Lab Europe,;

  • Represent the Nordics B Corp movement across relevant and impactful forums in the market, and be a strong advocate for B Corps in the Nordics.

  • Work with our Comms Team to ensure the branding messaging, narrative, and campaigning is on point within Nordics business context;

  • Work with B Lab Europe to  manage the budget for the Nordic team; 

  • Contribute a Nordic voice to the European B Corp movement as one of the regions in the European Network;

Develop and execute a plan for the creation of a local council made up of B Corps with support of B Lab Europe.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Comfortable in a small and international team and take a hands on approach;

  • Experience/interest in coaching a small team of talented individuals

  • Corporate / for-profit experience or a solid understanding of how medium to large businesses operate in the Nordics; 

  • Familiarity with business sustainability, circularity and impact measurement, and how business is approaching stakeholder governance;

  • Awareness of key impact reporting frameworks and the evolving landscape of standards and legislation likely to influence disclosure across the value chain;

  • Understands the composition and the culture of business in the Nordics and understand how the B Corp movement can play a key role in that context;

  • A strong command of English is required. A strong command of at least one of the Nordics languages is a plus.

  • Passionate about the role that business can play in creating a future that benefits all people and the planet;

  • Fast thinking, multi-tasker, not easily phased, who builds personal relationships easily;

  • Comfortable in fast moving and agile environments;

  • Ready to run a team that is part of a global movement and organisation;

    Ideal Start Date

    September 2024. Please note that due to the timeline of posting this ad and the summer vacation period, we will be accepting applications until the end of June and our team will review and rate applicants in July with 1st round interviews commencing the week of 29th July. We understand that this might delay the possible start date of September / October 2024.

    Working Arrangements

    Hybrid working environment, office based in Copenhagen. This is a full time position and will require regular travel across the Nordics and some trips to Amsterdam (where B Lab Europe head office is located) and potentially other European regions.

    At the moment, B Lab Europe is unable to sponsors visas in Denmark so unfortunately we can only proceed with applications who have the ability to work in Denmark without visa sponsorship.
