About the role

The Risk & Compliance Manager will work hand in hand with the Chief Operating Officer, Executive Management and Board, leading the risk management and compliance matters and agenda across the business and ensure a risk-based compliance culture is embedded in the business with and impact overlay.

The main activities of the role include:

  • Define and manage the risk management framework for Sentient, including identification of key risk areas as well as definition of required mitigants and controls; manage the impact risk assessment framework

  • Manage the business’s compliance program and policies, including Code of Conduct, conflicts of interest, delegation authorities, complaints handling process, staff trading, privacy and IT security policies

  • Provide risk and compliance assessment on due diligence and approvals for new transactions, products or funds (Investment Process)

  • Manage the ongoing and monitor any new regulatory obligations for Sentient, including requirements for the operation of the physical assets such as solar farms

  • Review and manage vendor and outsourcing due diligence and vendor risks

  • Manage the business’s AML/CTF Program and monitor compliance with requirements

  • Conduct regular Compliance assessments for the Group’s Corporate Authorised Representatives

  • Implement and update the business’s Business Continuity plan

  • Managing the Risk & Compliance Committee agenda and content

  • Provide other ad hoc governance, risk and compliance services as required

  • Act as an escalation point for the business to raise issues or concerns 

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in law, finance, business, accounting or other relevant busines qualification;

  • Extensive experience in risk management and/or compliance within the financial services industry, ideally in asset management or wealth management;

  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory requirements, with focus on requirements for AFSL Holders

  • Solid understanding of compliance policies and procedures as well as monitoring of implementation of such

  • Ability to research and understand complex legislative requirements;

  • Experience in Senior Stakeholder Management and ability to develop rapport with a range of stakeholders, including preparing decision-making material and presenting to Executive Committees, Investment Committees and Boards

  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; be adaptable and able to think laterally; have strong attention to detail; be a team player; be self-motivated;

  • Skilled in data analysis, demonstrated proficiency with excel;

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, creating efficiencies, and managing multiple stakeholders;

  • Willing to take ownership and lead risk & compliance to safeguard Sentient’s business and team

  • Strong desire and interest in working in the impact investment space
