Job Description
Role Purpose
The Digital Content Experience Officer is responsible for developing content throughout the organisation’s websites and digital product interfaces. They will focus on the content experience and end-to-end journey for users accessing and using the organisation’s digital products and services. They will ensure that content experiences align with GTC Scotland’s brand, values, and strategy.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Design and maintain content across the organisation’s website and digital product interfaces, ensuring content is easily understood, on-brand, accessible and optimised.
Design content to meet user needs and make complex language and processes easy to understand.
Use design principles and tools to build creative solutions for content, including multimedia and interactive content.
Work with HTML and CSS (where required) to enhance content and user experience.
Work with colleagues and suppliers to design and create new pages or sections for the website whenever necessary, ensuring brand/style guidelines are maintained.
Use data and insights from across GTC Scotland digital products to better understand user needs and expectations and help tailor their content experience accordingly.
Use Google Analytics and other tools to measure, analyse and report on digital activity, identifying ways to iteratively improve content.
Ensure content is accurate, compliant, and regularly reviewed.
Support UX research and testing, working with colleagues and stakeholders to understand user needs.
Work with web and UI developers to implement attractive and user-friendly solutions.
Contribute to UI design best practice, ensuring all digital designs and content meet usability and accessibility standards.
Perform other duties that may be reasonably required within the scope of your role as assigned to you.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential
Batchelors Degree or equivalent qualification (SCQF Level 9), or equivalent attested vocational or work-based training
Evidence of ongoing professional learning
Desirable
HTML and CSS training
User Experience (UX) certification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
Experience in creating and designing web content, working as a Web Editor, Content Editor, Content Designer or in a similar role.
Experience of designing user-centered content and skilled in UX accessible writing and content design
Professional copy-writing ability and a strong understanding of design and layout
Experience of optimising content for SEO and speed
Excellent digital literacy including competency with Microsoft 365 applications (including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Dynamics)
Experience of working with content management systems
Good understanding of front-end development (HTML/CSS) and ability to communicate with web developers.
Experience in building and maintaining effective working partnerships with internal and external users/partners/suppliers
Desirable
Experience of working with 3rd party UI/web developers
Experience of managing and/or conducting user research
An understanding of the political educational context and the impact for GTC Scotland
