Background

Diversity VC is a non-profit partnership, on a mission to promote diversity and inclusion in venture capital, tech and entrepreneurship.

In just 18 months since our launch we have published the first ever study on the number of women in UK VC, run an internship programme getting young people from diverse backgrounds into venture capital jobs, built a diversity & inclusion toolkit and running a training course for VC partners, run hundreds of networking and university events, featured in the FT, Sunday Times and on Bloomberg TV and even been mentioned by the UK government budget. However, we are just getting started, and there’s much more to do! Diversity VC has been run by a group of volunteers working in VC as well as a senior group of advisers, but we are now looking to hire someone to help us continue to scale our impact.

The role

Diversity VC has recently joined up with a group of partners in the tech industry, Capital Enterprise and JP Morgan to increase opportunities for women and BAME talent in tech entrepreneurship. You will lead Diversity VC’s part in this project.

This is a flexible role which could be largely remote and ideally part-time. We are looking for someone on a 1-2 day p/w basis. The project will last for two years.

You’ll be responsible for delivering the following aspects of the project:

  • Growing the Venture Capital toolkit of practical and helpful resources to build a second and better version and making this toolkit relevant to accelerators and entrepreneurs

  • Developing a measurement and effectiveness score for the toolkit and targeting signing up as many funds and accelerators as possible to this score or certification.

  • Raising matched funding from sponsors of £25,000

  • Working with our data lead to deliver a data study on some of the barriers to entry for women and BAME talent in tech

  • Co-ordinating with other partners to ensure we are working together as closely and efficiently as possible and keeping all partners updated

  • Reporting back to the broader team and our sponsors

What we’re looking for

  • A person passionate about increasing diversity and inclusion in technology

  • An energetic self-starter who is happy to lead on and execute large scale projects with a number of stakeholders and evidence of having achieved tangible impact

  • A person who is confident with valuation & monitoring. We need make sure we're getting feedback from our customers (i.e. funds / entrepreneurs) and making improvements along the way

  • A strong, clear communicator who would enjoy crafting content and speaking at events and with senior decision-makers

Desirable

  • Experience of fundraising

  • Someone who has held management roles in technology and entrepreneurship
