Job Description

About Us

Very Great is a digitally-native consumer product platform and holding company, growing a family of real, crave-worthy brands for a new generation. Based in New York City, Very Great is powered by a technology-enabled growth infrastructure that spans supply chain, creative, marketing and sales, all designed to rapidly develop, launch and scale modern consumer product brands. The current family of brands includes W&P, Courant and Wild One, with future brand launches currently under development.

About the Role

We’re looking for a VP of Growth to join our team and focus on architecting our “growth engine” across the full funnel at the platform level across all brands. You will be the leading voice for all things growth at Very Great across Data, Marketing and eCommerce (DTC and Amazon). This role offers a unique opportunity to build a shared services growth team and innovate the company’s data, digital product and marketing strategies and processes across multiple digital properties.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of innovating and scaling DTC businesses, building high-performing growth teams, optimizing the funnel experience and delivering quality user experiences. You have a strong understanding of both the performance and brand sides of growth as well as the technical aspects of data analysis and digital product management. We look for teammates who are curious and kind, and who will challenge us at every turn — asking the tough questions and determined to find the ideal solutions.

This position will report to Josh Williams, our Co-CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a team of high-performing growth marketers and data analysts.

  • Drive strategy and execution of our performance, conversion and re-engagement marketing efforts as we continue to scale our digital programs (paid and organic), explore channel mix, new channel testing roadmaps and help each brand assess budgets.

  • Hold a key seat at the table in strategic company decisions around how we should grow. Develop and inspire longer-term strategic roadmaps. Hold yourself and the team accountable to hitting these growth and engagement goals.

  • Explore, strategize, and execute emerging channel opportunities that we have not yet tested into, supporting our broader goal of channel diversification.

  • Maintain and evolve a testing framework to expand our volume & pace of learning across the business.

  • Manage the largest piece of our marketing budget, but be holistic and resourceful in your approach to spend.

  • Oversee our pacing & allocation process to help us better optimize & plan spend across all channels.

  • Oversee performance and manage spend on Amazon

About You:

  • A bright, kind and goal-oriented leader

  • A player/coach mentality and can play both roles exceptionally well

  • 10+ years of growth marketing experience

  • Experience managing budgets of at least $10MM annually

  • Experience developing and managing a team

  • Track record of scaling up DTC business lines

  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in paid media, content marketing, SEO, influencers, affiliate, and social media

  • Strong reporting expertise in attribution and site analytics

  • A self starter who proactively identifies problems as well as solutions, and are always seeking ways to improve the site even with limited resources, always looking for MVP opportunities

  • A strategic, entrepreneurial thinker who isn’t afraid to push the envelope and take calculated risks in the name of driving big wins

  • Data-driven and analytical. You always try to back product decisions with data. When data is not available, you’re comfortable driving data analysis to inform decisions.

  • Customer-obsessed: You care deeply about building the right experience for our users, and try to do so from data analysis to market research to iterative testing

  • Thorough and detail-oriented across all things you touch

  • Passionate about the Very Great mission: helping bring more thoughtfully designed products to unmet consumer needs
