Purpose of Role Play a key role in the delivery of Art Fund’s charitable programme/s through the assessment of applications, and the day-to-day delivery and ongoing management of casework and related administration across Art Fund’s grant making portfolio, taking ownership of specific elements of the programme as required. Work with the Senior Programme Manager, Collections and colleagues to make improvements to the programme and processes, deliver research and evaluation as required, and forge excellent working relationships with prospective and current donors, applicants and museum partners.
A member of the Programmes team, the postholder will work with colleagues across Art Fund and the wider sector to ensure our grant-making and programme is effective and valuable and supports our strategic plan. You’ll help us identify where Art Fund can make a real difference in our priority areas and build our reputation in these areas: championing diverse and inclusive museum collections, workforce and audiences; reaching a new generation of museum goers that through digital and community experiences, as well as in the museum itself, and; developing a sustainable sector. You will share the energy and commitment that Art Fund staff bring to their work, as well as a belief in the importance of arts and culture.
Key Accountabilities
· Programme delivery: Support the Senior Programme Manager, Collections to deliver the Programmes pipeline, at present taking specific ownership for Gifts and Bequests of works of art with the administration of allocations to museums and galleries. Within this work with Senior Programmes Manager, Collections agree and deliver associated strategies, schedules, and guidance, to prepare briefings and papers for meetings, complete related paperwork, and any follow-up as necessary. Input and manage gift and bequest records, ensuring data is accurate, and create reports as required.
· Donor relationships: Cultivate and maintain good relationships with donors or/and Estate representatives, working with the Development Team and wider colleagues on donor stewardship, liaison and due diligence as necessary.
· Programme casework: Work closely with colleagues to undertake casework across programmes as required, on both Acquisitions and Projects, supporting museums through the application process and completing necessary administration and record-keeping.
· Evaluation: Ensure required data and reports from grantees are received in a timely manner and contribute as required to their collation and interpretation to support the evaluation of individual grants and programmes, creation of reports for donors, and Art Fund’s ability to communicate the impact of its programmes internally and externally.
· Programme development, strategy and review: Support the Senior Programme Manager, Collections to make improvements to existing programmes and develop and deliver grants strategy in line with the Art Fund’s strategic objectives.
· Research: Support the Senior Programmes Managers with the design and delivery of research related to the development of the Programmes portfolio.
· Internal communications: Disseminate information on successful gifts and bequests to stakeholders across Art Fund to help inform and advise on other areas of such as content, fundraising, donor stewardship or events planning.
Representing Art Fund: Represent Art Fund at external and sector events, give talks and presentations, and act as a spokesperson for Art Fund, deputising for senior members of the Programmes team as required. Build, manage and strengthen key Art Fund relationships, including with the UK museums sector, other arts and heritage organisations, major funders and other art world figures. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Trustees, decision making panels, SMT and across the organisation.

Knowledge
A demonstrable interest the visual arts, heritage or museums and galleries sector
Solid experience in arts administration, grant-making and/or collections management
Experience of working with committees, trustees or donors
Experience managing budgets
An interest in issues of diversity, inclusion and access in a museum and gallery context
Knowledge of managing gifts, bequests or legacies of works of art
Skills/Abilities/
Competencies
Demonstrable skills in project management
Experience with donors and other external stakeholder management
Excellent understanding of common office software such as the MS Office Suite
Sound time-management skills and ability to prioritise, work under pressure and deliver to deadlines
Ability to grasp complex ideas and information quickly, and present then compellingly in writing and face to face
Highly accurate and precise
Research and lateral thinking skills
Able to build and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally at all levels, and communicate with tact and diplomacy
