Job Description

The Expedition Enrollment Support Specialist is an essential part of the Expedition Admissions team, supporting efficient communication with students and program staff. They communicate directly with students about enrollment requirements, payments, and deadlines. The Expedition Enrollment Support Specialist is responsible for compiling and distributing paperwork and information in a timely and accurate fashion to admissions officers, staffing, students, and locations to ensure complete and up-to-date expedition student files. This position manages the webinar program that includes student orientation webinars and course-specific Q&A webinars, and serves as Webinar Host from September through April.

What does the Enrollment Support Specialist do?

  • Assist Admissions officers with general customer service tasks such as email, phone, course paperwork, diploma issuance, and directing student to the best fit course

  • Lead the Webinar program. Deliver three to six ~60 minute student webinars each week, preparing presentations, procuring panelists, tracking attendance, and adapting webinar schedule to meet current student and course needs

  • Supervise tasking for the seasonal Webinar Host

  • Contact students for upcoming courses regarding missing enrollment forms and overdue tuition. Includes sensitive, and sometimes difficult, conversations with parents and students regarding enrollment eligibility and finances

  • Assist with student file maintenance and general officer administration tasks. Responds to requests for student evaluations and other information

  • Assist the Expedition Registrar in handling VA Benefits, 529/AmeriCorps processes, and college credit registration and reporting

  • Prepare post course materials, ensuring timely shipping of course diplomas/certificates for locations

  • With Expedition Admissions Manager, serve as Acting Registrar and University Relations Manager 

  • Evening work is required to accommodate the webinar schedule

In your first 6 months, you will: 

  • Become fluent in Expedition Admissions policies and processes

  • Work 1-2 shifts per week on shared team phone queue

  • With Admissions Assistant, become fluent in process for diploma printing and filing

  • Begin weekly contact with students on upcoming courses regarding missing enrollment forms and overdue tuition

  • Take over management of the Webinar Program, including scheduling and hosting webinars, creating content, and collaborating with campus staff to ensure accurate and complete webinar information

  • Begin training for Acting Registrar and University Relations Manager Assistant

  • Must be responsible, organized, and able to independently prioritize tasks and details

  • Responsible for direct student communications regarding course payments, as well as transfer and cancellation policies

  • Supervises tasking for summer seasonal Webinar Host

  • This person must work cooperatively with Expedition Admissions and Marketing and Creative staff, as well as consulting with other departments and locations

  • A passion for NOLS courses, customer service, and an excitement for connecting expedition students to the NOLS mission is necessary 

  • Experience in personal outdoor recreation, outdoor education, and/or experience supporting expedition operations preferred
