Job Description

At ClearSpace, we believe in reusability, in affordability driving disruption, and that no progress is real unless it is sustainable.

Our company was founded in 2018 out of the realization that in-orbit servicing and space debris removal are vital services for the future of space exploration and operations. Today ClearSpace has assembled an expert engineering team and is leading the way toward sustainable space operations. From a garage in Switzerland, we now operate across Europe and the US, and are working with world-leading institutions and companies to bring our dream of a sustainable space ecosystem to life.

Motivated to join us and make a difference beyond earth? We are currently looking for a SPINtern to join our team to look at the use of Valispace, a new innovative tool which enables a more agile, dynamic approach to requirements management, in line with the 'new space' approach for managing more commercially focused space missions.

Key tasks include:

  • Co-ordination and management of all data input into the tool, ensuring a clear flow down and full traceability at all levels of the specification tree.

  • Coding to build export functionalities and automatise data extraction and input into key system analyses and design reviews.

  • Implementation of change control processes in response to any baseline changes.

  • Development of a custom dashboard to visually represent the live status of requirements verification throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Presenting at team meetings, and to the Program Manager, Systems Engineering team and customer (as required)

Applicant Specification:

We are looking for someone who is interested in space systems engineering and spacecraft design, and who ideally enjoys coding (although not essential)

Minimum requirements:

  • Passion, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn

  • Studying or about to complete a degree related to aerospace, science and/or engineering

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Process details:

  • 8 weeks minimum fixed term contract to be agreed with successful candidate

  • 4 days holiday to be taken during the placement

This job description set outs the skills and experience we believe are needed to be able to do this job but, research also tells us women are much more likely than men to take this list of requirements as absolute and self-select out of the process. If you think you can deliver this role then we want to hear from you, regardless of the boxes you didn’t tick.
