Job Description

Purpose of the Role: 

As Business Development Manager, you will play an integral role achieving our strategic objective to secure new, profitable and impactful partnerships.

 Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, you will manage an extensive portfolio of new opportunities with Partner Businesses and proactively generate impactful leads. You will help to develop and deliver profile raising events from small exclusive events to large scale exhibition stands.  

 You will work with the Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager and Individual Partnerships and Community Manager to ensure the smooth and timely handover of new Partner Businesses/ Pilotlighters and continuously spot opportunities to cross-sell. Across Pilotlight, you will help to deepen relationships and act as an ambassador for Pilotlight’s work.

 Key Areas of Responsibility:

 You will:

  •  Achieve agreed income and activity targets for new business

  • Develop and nurture high-quality prospects and leads, contributing to our weighted pipeline targets

  • Alongside the Senior Business Development Manager and wider team, deliver a compelling events portfolio including exclusive Panel Discussions, Pilotlight Summit, online learning events and Exhibition stands

  • Influence key stakeholders and act as an ambassador for Pilotlight’s work in particular on social media.

Experience and Competencies:

  • New business development experience gained in a solutions-orientated sales environment

  • Creating and delivering engaging pitches and proposals to a corporate audience

  • Navigating complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Managing a wide-ranging successful events portfolio

  • Strong sales CRM systems ideally in Salesforce and/or Hubspot

  • Strong presentation skills and a confident communicator

  • Understanding of and commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

  • Commitment to Pilotlight’s mission and work

  • Experience selling within the Learning & Development or Talent Management sectors is desirable

  • Experience selling within the Sustainability or CSR sectors is desirable.
