Job Description
Summary
We are the public body that looks after England’s historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand, value and care for them.
Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to become our Senior Test Analyst.
This role is an integral part of our Testing Service and IT Governance QA work stream, working with our Agile & Waterfall Project Teams and Operational Service & Delivery Teams to drive up quality assurance of IT changes, improvements and innovation work streams and initiatives. This role will robustly champion and deliver a wide variety of testing types from system, integration, regression, performance, accessibility, to functional and UAT disciplines, across our diverse software, hardware and User network.
The location of this role is National where we offer hybrid working, you will be based in one of our following offices and from home - Newcastle, York, Manchester, Birmingham, Swindon, Bristol, Portsmouth and Cambridge.
Salary
National salary range: £31,912 - £35,000 pro-rata
Cambridge: £35,301 - £37,750 pro-rata
What you will be doing
You will be Responsible for confirming individual components meet project requirements to ensure overall compliance with project and industry definitions, UAT and ultimately the product Acceptance Criteria.
Gathering of all testing requirements, assessing and agreeing test coverage (including negative testing scenarios) and test suites with Project Stakeholders.
Be Responsible for setting up the Test Suites, predominantly but not exclusively, within Azure DevOps, ensuring site features etc for the wider Project site are configured correctly, from the Project outset.
Setting up required test environments, including representative hardware and process start points, volume harvesting, manipulating (including anonymising) and migrating of suitable test data.
Attend and actively contribute to all Project Team processes and ceremonies including Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Planning sessions, Reviews and Retrospectives, organise and lead Defect Reviews and participate in Product Owner ‘Show & Tells’. Interpret relevant information to support testing activities.
Assist business stakeholders in backlog refinement ceremonies, define understandable and testable user stories and their acceptance criteria. Actively support them to define and agree the Project ‘Definition of Done’ and regularly recalibrate their Story Pointing for each Project Sprint.
Create and maintain a full suite of prioritised Test Plans, Cases, Scripts and related risk assessments for each project. Provide the Project/Scrum Master and the wider Project Team with timely and accurate Test Estimates for each.
Diligently, accurately and uniformly execute test runs ensuring all positive outcomes as well as bugs and defects are clearly recorded, reported and stored for review, usually within the Azure DevOps Test Suite Repository.
Provide accurately recorded, timely and constructive direct feedback to Developers.
Create, develop and maintain a suite of Regression Testing Scripts for each Project, from Sprint 1, and lead on the automation of these.
Organise and structure any User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, managing all the set-up (environments, data, hardware, licenses etc), user awareness/training, templates, SharePoint defect lists, artefacts, outcomes and reports. Responsible for ensuring the UAT testing delivery is accurately resourced, recorded and is of the required standard to allow Product Owners and other Project Stakeholders to evaluate for Product sign off into live.
Provide Test Closure Reports using Azure DevOps Testing Suite and other tools as required.

ISTQB Test Foundation certified
Azure DevOps experienced
Agile methodology Project & Product Testing experienced
Evidence of continuous self development in software testing tools and techniques
Functional, System, Performance, Accessibility and User Acceptance Testing experience evidence
Evidence of defect management experience
Evidence of Test Automation Experience
