Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager to join our team. The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring and closure of projects within our organisation. This role demands strong leadership, communication, and organisational abilities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and to the highest quality standards.
While your primary focus will be within long-term conditions, you may also support our other mission areas as needed which include mental health, urgent care, cancer and maternity and neonatal services.
Key success factors
· Delivery to targets – meeting milestones and deadlines with effective management of time spent on projects according to planned activity.
· Effective stakeholder engagement – establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal staff and a wide range of external stakeholders including healthcare professionals, administrators and external partners.
· Quality of implementation – learning from best practice and quality metrics.
· Risk management - risks are identified, assessed, mitigated and escalated.
· Change management – mitigating resistance to change and achieving buy-in from key stakeholders. Ensuring that innovations and changes implemented are sustainable in the long term.
· Project documentation – clear and comprehensive project documentation.
· Team collaboration – fostering a collaborative environment and transferring knowledge to the team and other stakeholders.
· Data and evaluation –collecting and analysing data to evaluate impact in collaboration with the evaluation and learning team.
Responsibilities
1. Project Planning and Initiation
· Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
· Define project objectives, requirements, and deliverables.
· Identify key stakeholders and secure project approvals.
· Apply project management methodologies to initiate projects effectively.
2. Project Execution
· Contributing to project teams, including matrix working with a wide range of staff.
· Monitor and manage project progress, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule.
· Address and mitigate project risks and issues promptly.
· Manage project resources efficiently.
· Contribute to identifying income generation opportunities and working with others to assess and triage new business opportunities.
3. Stakeholder Communication
· Establish clear lines of communication and strong working relationships with project stakeholders.
· Provide regular project status updates and reports.
· Ensure alignment between project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
· Work with the communications and events teams to engage partners in projects, communicate the impact of work and raise the profile of the organisation at a regional and national level.
· Build relationships with other regional Health Innovation Networks and contribute to the success of the national Network.
4. Quality Control
· Implement quality assurance processes to meet project goals.
· Continuously monitor project deliverables for compliance with quality standards.
· Ensure projects meet the highest quality and performance criteria.
· Provide regular, accurate and detailed reporting on project performance.
5. Risk Management
· Identify and assess project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
· Proactively manage and minimise project risks.
· Foster a risk-aware project culture within the team.
6. Change Management
· Manage project scope changes effectively.
· Evaluate the impact of scope changes on project objectives.
· Implement change control processes to maintain project integrity.
7. Project Closure
· Ensure successful project closure with a focus on achieving project objectives.
· Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned.
· Formalise project closure reports and documentation.
8. Other
· Other role appropriate responsibilities as instructed by the line manager.
· Demonstrate the values of the organisation in all your work as impact led, improvement focused and collaborative.
· Act as an ambassador for the organisation.
Person specification:
Experience we are looking for:
· Project management: experience in the delivery of high quality projects and knowledge of change methodologies such as Quality Improvement (QI) frameworks, Lean or Six Sigma, and project and programme management frameworks.
· Stakeholder engagement: successful experience in managing complex stakeholder landscapes.
· Change management: a track record of mitigating resistance to change and achieving buy-in.
· Risk and issue management: experience of managing project risks and issues.
· Collaboration and team building: experience of working in and contributing to effective project teams.
· Healthcare systems: proven experience in managing change and adopting new innovations and practices, preferably within healthcare settings.
· Data analysis: experience of analysing data to inform decision making.
