The B Corp Movement

Certified B Corps seek to redefine success in business by putting profit on a par with social and environmental impact. B Corps manage the impact of their entire business through the B Impact Assessment and reach high standards of social and environmental performance.  B Corps also amend their governing documents to consider the impact of their decisions on people and planet. The B Corp community is a global group of businesses who provide leadership by their commitments to people and planet and create examples of success for others to follow. There are now over 3,100 B Corps in over 65 countries and covering 150 sectors, including Patagonia, The Body Shop, Kickstarter, innocent and Ella’s Kitchen.

B Lab 

B Lab was created in 2006 with the mission to inspire and enable people to use business as a force for good. There are B Labs across the globe including Australia, East Africa, mainland Europe and North and South America. B Lab UK is a charity that launched in 2015. Our purpose is to redefine success in business through building a community of engaged businesses, raising awareness of the B Corp movement and championing change in the UK economy. The B Lab UK team is small, friendly, hard-working and committed to changing how business operates.

The role of Certification Manager

The B Corp movement in the UK is continuing to grow at pace, with the recent certifications of The Body Shop and The Guardian as well as increasing interest from multinational companies. This is an exciting operational position inside a dynamic organisation that will play a pivotal role ensuring that B Lab UK is set up for scale.

The Certification Manager will create processes and provide business support to deliver an exceptional client journey through B Corp certification and assist a small team with big ambitions. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the pipeline of companies seeking certification to ensure smooth throughflow of businesses and an excellent client experience.

  • Being a key contact for companies on their journey to certification, communicating with and supporting them if any issues arise.

  • Analysing the overall certification pipeline, identifying key engagement points and improving conversion rates over time, using Salesforce to create useful reports and dashboards.

  • Developing new strategies and processes for constantly improving the service we provide to companies and the procedures in place to achieve this.

  • Presenting B Corp and the certification process to businesses, typically to the C-Suite.

  • Liaising closely with the Standards Analysts (independent Trust that reviews B Corp assessments) to manage issues and capacity.

  • Collaborating with B Lab global team members to bring together relevant information, share best practice and work on joint projects.

  • Developing and delivering training and resources on the benefits of B Corp and the certification process.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • At least 5 years of work experience, with a focus on product/project/operations management (we welcome applications from people with different professional backgrounds).

  • Ability to develop and implement strategies and processes for more effective work.

  • Strong experience in Salesforce or similar CRMs.

  • Ability to summarise data easily and analyse patterns and bottlenecks. 

  • Experience in managing multiple relationships within an organisation, managing different work-strands simultaneously. 

Desirable

  • Experience developing new products and services that meet an identified need.

  • Strong presenter of complex concepts, ability to communicate effectively with clients.

  • Technically savvy - highly proficient in Google packages, Excel and Powerpoint.

  • A strategic thinker with an operational practicality in devising systems that bring strategy to life and engage key players in that process.

  • Keen eye for detail and confident in the nitty gritty details of a project.

  • A quick learner with great initiative who can apply good judgement with confidence.

  • Has a creative approach to finding solutions to new challenges.

  • Self-motivated and structured worker, happy to work independently.

  • Highly effective – as use of time and resources are always limited.

Salary & Benefits: 

  • Starting at £36,000

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and office closure over Christmas
