Job Description

At Unreasonable, we believe high-growth for-profit solutions are one of the most effective and scalable ways to solve pressing social and environmental challenges. Every day, our team strives to give the entrepreneurs we work with an “unfair advantage.” We do this by connecting them with our networks of mentors, investors, business leaders, and policy makers who can help them scale their businesses faster and more effectively. Today, the over 250 CEOs in the Unreasonable Fellowship have raised more than $4.5B in financing, generated more than $3.5B in revenue, and are measurably impacting the lives of more than 530 million individuals in nearly every country and territory worldwide.

We are now searching for a Portfolio Manager to support our community of entrepreneurs in North, Central, and South America. The Manager will serve as the point of contact for the entrepreneurs in these regions. The Manager will report directly to our Director of Global Portfolio and work closely with our Managing Director of Global Portfolio as well as the broader Investments Team. This is an exciting, multifaceted role balancing a number of dynamics and responsibilities. This position is based in the United States and will require some domestic and international travel, depending on when we’re able to safely return to in-person programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the majority of our Americas-based entrepreneurs. Currently, there are over 100 entrepreneurs based in these regions with an additional 25 being added each year. You will be managing ~70 of these entrepreneurs within your first year.

  • Share “check-in calls” at least twice a year with the entrepreneurs under your management to understand how the Unreasonable community can best be of continued support to them.

  • Monitor all requests for support from Americas entrepreneurs and direct those requests to the relevant member of the Unreasonable team and/or Unreasonable Community.

  • Collect the ongoing fundraising needs of the entrepreneurs under your management.

  • Work with the Director of Global Portfolio to develop tailored investor lists of funding connections Unreasonable can make for each entrepreneur under your management who is raising investment.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a network of growth-equity investors across the Americas.

  • Support in the development, recruitment, and management of Unreasonable Collective, our membership investment syndicate.

  • Support the Unreasonable Community Team (the division of Unreasonable that facilitates our various programmes) as they develop world-class events and workshops that drive value to our entrepreneurs.

  • Attend the investor gathering and the closing days of the Unreasonable Impact Americas Program each year and any other relevant programs that are specific to the regions under your management.

  • Collaborate with our corporate partners to create intimate gatherings within their communities that drive value to our entrepreneurs.

  • Work with the Unreasonable Media Team to collect and highlight press hits for the entrepreneurs/ventures under your management.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR…

  • You are someone who is truly passionate about supporting entrepreneurs who are applying wildly scalable business solutions to solving the world’s greatest challenges.

  • You see entrepreneurship as a driver of economic growth and an agent of social and environmental change.

  • You have a strong understanding of the various ways businesses raise investment and access capital.

  • You consider yourself a strong relationship builder and easily maintain contact with an extensive network.

  • You work best on a fast-moving team that is collaborative, and when needed, you are able to take full ownership of a project from start to finish without direct supervision.

  • You have a very high degree of digital proficiency and are passionate about utilizing technology to streamline communication.

  • You think in terms of systems and how your work fits and interacts with the larger system. You are passionate about working with a team to develop replicable processes.

  • You are a skilled researcher and are highly detail oriented when it comes to managing extensive data and information sets.

  • You think and operate strategically. You recognize what’s most important to tackle, in what order, and are prepared to make informed, independent decisions.

  • You believe deeply in the importance of transparent and honest communication in what you write and how you interact with the people around you.

  • As you read about Unreasonable’s core values, you get more and more excited with each value you come across.

  • Bonus points if you are fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
