Job Description

Data Protection Lead

The Data Protection Lead is an information management professional with expertise in managing personal data. You will have a detailed understanding of UKGDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 and know how to apply them in practice.

The Role

You will champion appropriate management of all personal data within the OIA, including providing advice to colleagues about data protection issues arising in our complaint casework. You will train and support all OIA staff working with personal data, advising them about how we should meet our obligations under the law and apply good practice guidelines.

You will make decisions about how to manage the rights of multiple data subjects. You will develop and maintain systems to identify any data breaches, and you will decide what should be reported to the ICO.  You will complete relevant documentation that demonstrates our compliance with relevant data protection law.

You will collaborate with colleagues in a wide variety of roles to develop our information management policies and practice. You will monitor how information flows within the organisation, and check that colleagues are following relevant policies and guidance. You will model excellent practice in information management.

You will have outstanding communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a pragmatic approach.
