We are Fair4All Finance. We are a not-for-profit organisation working with Financial Services providers to improve the financial wellbeing of people in vulnerable circumstances by increasing access to fair, affordable and appropriate financial products and services.

We are continuing our work following our latest round of funding, and as a result we are now seeking a Director of Innovation and Development to play a critical leadership role in delivering Fair4All Finance’s mission to improve financial wellbeing for people in vulnerable circumstances. You’ll lead a portfolio of strategic programmes, working with partners to develop and scale inclusive financial products and services, informed by deep customer insight and evidence of what works. This role is central to transforming the market to better serve people who are currently underserved or excluded from mainstream financial services.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organisation, ensuring resources are strategically aligned with our goals to drive meaningful social impact

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of our market transformation programmes, including major initiatives like the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS), Cost of Living Scheme, and community finance pilots.

  • Drive product innovation by testing, scaling and embedding inclusive financial products and services across the market.

  • Lead customer insight and co-design, ensuring the voice of financially vulnerable people shapes all our investments.

  • Manage strategic relationships with financial services providers, regulators, and community partners to catalyse systems change.

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of pilot investment propositions, collaborating with the Investment team on innovative funding models.

  • Oversee budget planning and financial reporting for a multimillion-pound innovation portfolio.

  • Inspire and lead a high-performing team of subject matter experts and project leads.

 Essential experience & qualifications:

  • Proven track record in executive-level roles, with experience influencing boards, investors and senior stakeholders.

  • Deep expertise in financial inclusion and the needs of underserved customer groups.

  • Extensive knowledge of lending models, product development, acquisition strategies, customer journeys, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Strong financial acumen, commercial negotiation skills, and experience leading complex, high-impact programmes.

  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and managing diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to translate customer insight and complex data into actionable strategies and compelling narratives.

Desirable experience

  • Background in systems change, think tanks, or social innovation.

  • Experience in public sector or non-profit delivery.

  • Understanding of public funding, procurement, or subsidy control regulations.

Person Profile

  • Passionate about social impact and financial inclusion.

  • Comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity, with a hands-on, solutions-focused approach.

  • A collaborative, empathetic leader who builds trust and motivates teams.

  • Curious, creative, and always looking to test, learn and improve.

  • Skilled communicator and relationship builder, confident engaging at C-suite level
