Job Description

Project Description:

  • We are seeking an ambitious and driven Data Science Intern for an 8-week summer internship program. The intern will work on our cutting-edge project, "Maximizing AI Efficiency on Space-based Data Processing Units," with a particular focus on analyzing and processing Multispectral and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. This project aims to enhance our capabilities in processing and interpreting vast amounts of space data efficiently, supporting our mission to advance space technology and exploration.

Applicant Specification:

  • Data Analysis and Processing: Apply advanced data analysis techniques to process and analyze multispectral and SAR data from space-based platforms.

  • Model Development: Assist in developing and refining AI and ML models to improve the efficiency of data processing on space-based data processing units (DPUs).

  • Research and Innovation: Engage in research to explore new methods and technologies for space data analysis, contributing to the innovation of our data processing capabilities.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Document your findings and progress, and prepare reports to communicate results to the team and stakeholders.

Minimum requirements:

  • Passion and enthusiasm

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate or doctorate program in Data Science, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with a strong academic record.

  • Proficiency in Python and experience with ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

  • Familiarity with data processing and analysis techniques for multispectral and/or SAR data.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently remotely as well as part of a team.

  • Process details:

  • 8 weeks minimum fixed term contract to be agreed with the successful candidate

  • In-person Induction Event to be held in May or June 2024, and an in-person/hybrid Showcase Event to be held towards the end of 2024

  • 5 days' holiday to be taken during the placement
