The Better Business Act

The Better Business Act is a campaign run by B Lab UK, pushing for a change to UK legislation to make sure all businesses align the interests of people and planet with profit. The campaign has the support of over 2000 businesses and it's an exciting time to join the team as the campaign grows and in the run up to next year's general election.

About the Role

The Campaigns & Events Coordinator is responsible for helping us to produce and execute creative and cohesive campaigns. You are passionate about ensuring that our work is sustainable, purposeful and creative. You have a strong interest in businesses acting as a force for good & using social media, digital and offline campaigning to bring about positive change. You are comfortable working across teams and managing different priorities.

Responsibilities

Campaigns 

  • Assist the Campaigns Manager to deliver the campaign strategy for the Better Business Act (BBA), our flagship campaign.

  • Keep abreast of external media and political moments which might present risks and opportunities for the Better Business Act, and reflect these back with the team.

  • Work to ensure the wider B Lab UK team has an understanding of our work on the Better Business Act, and how it overlaps with other goals.

Content Creation & Social Media Management

  • Act as content and brand owner for the Better Business Act, ensuring campaign landing pages are up to date and producing assets within the campaign identity. 

  • Own the Better Business Act social media channels, running day to day content to engage our audiences.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager and the Content Coordinator to deliver an action oriented digital marketing campaign to ensure the Better Business Act reaches its goals.

  • Measure KPIs aligned with the Better Business Act and logging this to measure campaign success across different audiences.

Stakeholder Management

  • Manage engagement with the 2,000 strong BBA coalition, ensuring they remain informed and supportive of our goals.

  • Onboard and engage new coalition members for the Better Business Act and ensure our membership database is up to date.

  • Measure and track engagement across the Better Business Act coalition, flagging who are our most engaged coalition members, potential spokespeople and where around the country we have the highest and most active supporters.

Events

  • Feed into the design and production of Better Business Act & B Lab UK events, to ensure we are running creative and cohesive experiences which further the campaign’s goals including Party Conferences 2023 and Better Business Day.

  • Assist with the organisation of political or policy focused events to engage MPs, partners and policymakers.

  • Put sustainability at the heart of our events, ensuring suppliers and processes have been thought through with sustainability in mind.

What we are looking for:

  • Interest in using campaigning to bring about wider societal change and the Better Business Act

  • Experience working on campaigns driving social change in a previous role or voluntary capacity

  • Experience in copywriting for newsletters or equivalent experience

  • Experience of producing digital content for web and social media and managing social media accounts or equivalent experience

  • Good project management skills and are organised, efficient and comfortable planning and delivering projects while juggling multiple priorities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a clear communicator

  • Experience in building positive relationships with stakeholders

  • Strong administrative skills with an eye for organisation and prioritisation

  • Collaborative with a team mentality

  • Proactive, organised, flexible and self-motivated. Rolling up your sleeves and getting things done. You have a growth mindset, try new things and learn from mistakes

  • Eligible to work in the UK (we do not hold a sponsorship licence and therefore, are not able to provide visa sponsorship)

Desirable experience but not essential:

  • You are keen to develop a career in policy, public affairs and/or digital campaigning

  • You have event management skills and experience, particularly experience organising parliamentary events and roundtables
