Job Description

The Indigenous Peoples Engagement Officer provides support directly to the Associate Director (Indigenous Peoples and local communities), the ICVCM Indigenous Peoples and local communities Committee ("the Committee") and the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Engagement Forum ("the Forum"). This role is key to supporting the delivery of the strategy and implementation plans for both the Forum and the ICVCM in relation to Indigenous Peoples. To understand the context of our work in this area, you can review the information on our website.

In this role, you would coordinate preparation and materials for the Forum and other meetings, ranging from meeting booking and organising translation services to coordinating the completion and approval of any documents and other supporting materials. This contributes to smooth running of governance meetings, building trust in the team to deliver against the agreed strategies and plans.

The Indigenous Peoples Engagement Officer coordinates day to day activity through Gantt charts, plans, risks and financial recording and monitoring. You will therefore need experience of coordinating projects with a range of complex stakeholders, progress monitoring and risk management, and excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.

You will also take responsibility for delivering specific tasks and workstreams, working with colleagues across partner organisations and the ICVCM to ensure delivery to agreed time, costs and quality. This may include research, reports and coordination of direct deliverables such as Forum-specific policies and guides.

We are a fully remote organisation, working internationally. You will need to be proactive, know when to ask for support, comfortable working collaboratively using digital tools, and able to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver your outcomes.

In addition to the project skills above, we are looking for an individual with experience of contributing to quality control processes (including document reviews), complex meeting and inbox management, and confidently delivering outcomes through effective working relationships with a variety of diverse stakeholders. To thrive in this role, you will also need a commitment to inclusion and promoting the voices of Indigenous Peoples and local communities, ultimately protecting their rights and interests. If you can demonstrate existing experience or knowledge in this area, knowledge of the Voluntary Carbon Market, and/or fluency in French or Spanish, this would be a significant advantage but is not essential.
