Job Description

Start Date: March 1st 2025

Special Note: This role can be structured as a job share and we allow individual as well as team applications.

An Unconventional Invitation

We’re prototyping a different kind of partnership and recruitment model, one that acknowledges we’re building something new in an unconventional space. This isn’t a traditional job or recruitment scenario. Instead, we’re looking for a co-founder—someone who will help shape RZ alongside us and operationalise its possibility with ambition and care.

Mission

We recognise that the necessary transition and transformation will demand investments in new forms of value—assets and agents whose potential has yet to gain widespread acceptance. See this concept note.

To effectively finance this shift, we need codes of capital and capital allocators who can bridge and integrate at scale. They must not only be able to pool capital from existing markets, but also allocate it in alignment with new models of behaviour, new frameworks for distribution, and new ways of relating to the systems they support. Only then can we foster the systemic financing required for genuine transformation.

In response to this need, Thirty Percy Foundation and Dark Matter Labs are building a shared learning model—an accelerator designed to support the development of this new class of capital allocators. By creating a collaborative learning environment, we aim to support a first cohort of up to 10 teams working simultaneously at a rapid pace, learning together, and collectively shaping this emerging field.

The draft concept for the accelerator was developed by Jen Hooke, Indy Johar, and Leon Seefeld, in close collaboration with accelerator expert Peter Friedman.

We now want to invite a co-founder to finalise the concept and operationalise the accelerator with us.

Why Co-found

By framing this as an invitation to Co-Found, we emphasise the following:

  • Shared Accountability: This is about embracing the responsibility of building something new, together. It’s not transactional; it’s relational. The work is not “yours” or “ours,” but part of a collective endeavour grounded in a shared purpose.

  • Complementary Capabilities: While we seek individuals who bring new strengths and perspectives to our team, we are equally looking for those who can engage in mutual learning and adaptive collaboration, responding dynamically to the mission’s evolving needs.

  • Co-Creation: This is not a role with predefined boundaries but a partnership that shapes itself as we grow together. The invitation is to actively participate in defining the work, the strategy, and the systems we are building.

This framing reflects the significance of the work and the kind of commitment we are inviting people into: a commitment to take shared ownership of the mission, to challenge and expand the boundaries of possibility, and to co-create something fundamentally transformative.

The Role

We are seeking a thoughtful operator to bring the accelerator programme to life. You will:

  • Join the Mission Board (with Jen, Indy & Leon) and collaborate with external advisors to refine the programme's strategy and structure.

  • Lead the launch of the accelerator programme in early Q2 of 2025.

  • Assemble an ‘Asset Builder Accountability Council’ to give strategic advice on the design and implementation of the accelerator programme.

  • Coordinate the recruitment of the inaugural cohort of next generation capital allocators and find innovative ways to support their journey throughout the programme.

  • Build and grow a team to support the programme's delivery and future expansion.

  • Ensure the programme incorporates learning, innovation, and flexibility to address complex global challenges.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven entrepreneurial experience in building and scaling initiatives, ideally in finance, sustainability, or systems change.

  • Experience of leadership in areas of disruptive innovation, particularly in fields where bold experimentation challenges conventional norms.

  • Ability to design plans for learning and discovery alongside operational plans for implementation, ensuring adaptive strategies that integrate feedback and evolving insights.

  • Deep understanding of regenerative economics, impact investing, or capital reallocation for systemic transformation.

  • Experience designing or leading accelerator or innovation programmes is a strong plus.

  • Exceptional project management, with the ability to operationalise concepts into actionable plans.

  • High emotional intelligence, resilience, and comfort navigating ambiguity.

  • Dedication to collaboration, inclusivity, and learning from diverse perspectives.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Strong networks in the world of capital allocation and societal/ecological transitions is a plus.

How We Work

This role offers flexibility in working hours and location. You’ll join a small, interdisciplinary team that values experimentation, distributed power, and personal growth. We embrace adaptive ways of working, informed by feedback and aligned with our mission to create systemic change.

Pay & Benefits

We are currently iterating our Pay model and expect changes to be implemented in Q1 2025. During your hiring journey, we will update you.

Our approach to pay is not based on favouring one skill over another or rewarding hierarchical power dynamics. Instead, we recognise that everyone possesses unique and exceptional skills, and we remove the process of valuing and comparing them. This allows us to focus on unleashing those skills in diverse ways based on the specific context. It gives us the freedom to determine, assign, and assess roles based on what is most suitable for each situation, rather than being constrained by predefined roles tied to compensation.

As a result, our pay is designed not to reward people for tasks done, but to cover living costs so that we are freed to create what we believe is needed in the world. Our current base pay for everyone on the team is:

Formula = (Years experience + 23 (+ 8.82 for freelancers)) *1000 = gross pro rata pay in GBP

*Years experience includes all experience after school completion age (18) - incl. work, education, unpaid work (care, volunteering, etc).

We recognise that no formula that tries to do this can fully account for the unique contexts of every person. Therefore we also have a rebalancing process in place to accommodate individual circumstances.

Application Process

This page outlines how the process will look if you apply. We recommend checking it, and if you have any questions, please reach out at join@darkmatterlabs.org.

For this role, we will ask for a CV and to answer 3 sift questions (250 words max) related to this role and your motivation. We will review all applications on a rolling basis.

We strongly encourage applications from people with diverse lived experiences and underrepresented groups. If you have specific needs or require accommodations to apply, please let us know.
