Job Description

About us

At Founders Pledge, our mission is to empower entrepreneurs to do immense good. Since launching in 2015, we’ve raised over $10 billion for the most impactful social causes. We offer the simplest path to impact for successful entrepreneurs, providing end-to-end giving infrastructure, pioneering research, and access to a worldwide network of experts. In other words, we help tech leaders become strategic philanthropists. Our 1800+ members include the people behind industry-leading companies such as Airbnb, UiPath, Dropbox, Skype, Spotify, and Uber.

About the role

We’re looking for a passionate Growth Lead to join our global Growth team, to help us build relationships with founders and executives of the top tech companies in the US. You’ll invite them to commit to give a meaningful portion of their future exit proceeds to charity, contributing to our team’s annual target of $1bn+ in new commitments. This will involve meeting founders through diverse settings (e.g. 1-1 intros from our members, tech/wealth events and building partnerships with other ecosystem players) and using your strong foundation in relationship management best practices to move prospects from intention to action. Combined with Founders Pledge’s focus on high-impact philanthropy, there are few roles which can have as much positive social impact.

Reporting to our Global Head of Growth, this is a brilliant opportunity to lead and build our presence in the US, focusing on finding entrepreneurs who are committed to maximizing the impact of their future philanthropy.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Meeting virtually and in-person with entrepreneurs from some of the most exciting tech companies in the US to compel them to pledge to give to charity. You’ll confidently tell our story, helping prospective members understand what Founders Pledge has to offer in maximizing their impact in the world.

  • Developing strong lists of potential members and actively reaching out to them in a persuasive and authentic way.

  • Staying on top of tech industry news in the US in order to inform your prospect research and prioritization.

  • Ensuring our CRM (Salesforce) is up to date with accurate and reliable data on our members and prospective members.

  • Speaking about Founders Pledge at events and webinars.

  • Management of special projects as they arise to continually improve how we work, including cross-functional coordination.

About you

We’re interested in speaking to candidates with the following:

  • Significant sales experience with senior stakeholders, e.g. you might have experience in business development or major gifts fundraising.

  • Experience building relationships and influencing founders and/or HNW individuals and understanding of how to tailor your approach to achieve the best outcomes.

  • A keen interest in the tech sector or existing knowledge of the major players in the Bay Area and NYC.

  • A proven track record of establishing personal and meaningful relationships with clients.

  • A great mix of persistence and empathy in your approach to secure meetings and, ultimately, pledges.

  • A drive to inspire evidence-based approaches to philanthropy.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with an ability to adjust style depending on the audience.

  • Experience with CRMs.

  • Project management experience (nice to have).

Why work with us?

You can find more about the benefits we offer here, but what makes us truly special is both our mission and our people. We’re a diverse team, from both charitable and commercial backgrounds, who believe that amazing things can happen when we tackle problems together. We offer a flat structure and an opportunity to help shape the future of philanthropy

We ask that applicants to this role are based within commutable distance of San Francisco. We have a small office in San Francisco and we’d love you to work from our office at least twice per week to collaborate with our member-facing teams. You’ll also need to travel to conferences and events across the US as needed. Otherwise, to work from home, all you’ll need is a great wifi connection and we’ll provide you with everything else you need to be successful in your role. We usually bring the global team together once per year, and individual teams will meet to work together at least once annually! There is no closing date for applications and we will interview on a rolling basis.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at Founders Pledge. We seek people with different strengths, experiences, and backgrounds who share our drive to understand and solve complex social challenges. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Finding solutions to the world’s most pressing problems requires different perspectives and unique ways of thinking. We are committed to building an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone can do their best work.
