Job Description

Purpose of the Role

Our theatre department based at our West End office are looking for a Production Accountant to join their team. The role will include end-to-end production accounts reporting that includes but not limited to preparation of weekly payroll journals, bank, petty cash and control account reconciliations, sales contra reconciliations, purchase ledger management, production accounts, royalty statements, VAT returns, CT61s and FEUs. Previous experience of production accounting is necessary.  

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of weekly payroll journals in a fast paced environment as per client instructions and sector specific rules.

  • Overview of weekly bank reconciliation, purchase ledger and payment management, petty cash allocations.

  • Sales contra preparation per sector specific rules.

  • Weekly production accounts with reconciliation of all control accounts, prepayments and accruals detailed analysis.

  • Monitor accounts against budgets and cash forecasts to ensure accurate financial reporting and control of all production costs.

  • Drafting cyclical statements (royalties, merchandise royalties, profit distributions) and reconciling these against the control accounts - timely communication of payments with stakeholders. Consider any potential tax implications on payments per sector specific rules.

  • Preparation of VAT returns with sector specific adjustments.

  • Quarterly preparation and remittance of CT61 and FEU forms for withholding and payroll taxes.

  • Government Surveys.

  • Ad-hoc analysis/reporting as per client requirements.

  • Preparation of year end accounts workings to first draft stages.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Team player ready to take ultimate ownership of their tasks, ensuring efficient delivery of accurate results amidst tight deadlines.

  • Good IT skills including confidence with using Sage Line 50 and Excel.

  • Prior theatre/music/film sector knowledge is essential.

  • Eye for detail, being diligent, client-centric, ability to manage pressure in a fast paced environment.

  • Good organizational skills; staying on top of pending tasks and communicate these in a timely manner to clients and senior management, follow documented processes.

  • Role includes travel to client premises in London as required.

  • Prior theatre/music/film sector knowledge is essential.
