Job Description

You will:

  • work alongside clubs and organisations across Hampshire & IOW to promote the importance of safeguarding and welfare.

  • help build an increased knowledge of local needs so support can be provided and a safe, friendly environment can be created for all.

  • work with club welfare officers to promote good practice. Engaging with club and organisation welfare officers, to raise safeguarding awareness with parents, carers and participants. 

  • audit and prioritise clubs, given the volume across the county, and work with national governing bodies, other locally defined organisations and Sport England to do this.

  • establish and grow effective relationships with Club Welfare Officers and provide effective lines of communication.

  • engage people working on welfare within and across sports (national, sub-regional and local), as well as other related services (e.g. statutory services and local safeguarding boards). 

  • work closely with other members of Energise Me to ensure consistent messaging around welfare, safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion.  

  • facilitate good practice and work with other officers and the Active Partnership national team. 

  • train (or organising training for) Club Welfare Officers, prioritising new Club Welfare Officers. 

  • facilitate and proactively assist the reporting and referral of safeguarding cases from local to national and, if appropriate, contribute to the resolution of lower-level concerns.  

  • help with budget monitoring and financial reporting relating to the welfare roles. 

  • ensure appropriate monitoring and evaluation of safeguarding activity to gather learning, assess impact and measure performance against targets. 

  • engage in continuous professional development and keep abreast of sector developments, influences and insight.  

  • ensure that safeguarding policies are adhered to and raise concerns in accordance with these policies. 

  • maintain a confidential and discreet approach to personal and organisational information, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation. 

  • represent the organisation with clarity and purpose. 

  • model Energise Me’s values (Curious, Open, Creative and Bold) and comply with our policies and procedures. 

  • contribute to a culture of equality and demonstrate a desire to removing all forms of discrimination, as a colleague and service provider. 

  • undertake training and development as required by the role to deliver the tasks to a high standard. 

  • be flexible in undertaking additional duties commensurate with the role and ad-hoc project development as required.
