Job Description
Project Description:
The project involves the development of a model of a throttleable liquid-propellant rocket engine which will be integrated into Deimos existing Functional Engineering Simulator (FES) environment for use in on-going and future projects.
The applicant will need to:
Interface with the FES development and GNC teams to understand the important aspects of the rocket engine model when producing GNC designs.
Research existing liquid rocket engine models and select the one that best suits the needs of the GNC team.
Implement the modelled equations in Matlab/Simulink following Deimos guidelines and processes to ensure the developed model is auto-codable.
Develop Unitary test for the developed blocks
Suggest (and implement if time allows) appropriate validation of the developed block
Develop all technical documentation (describing the underlying equations in the model and the use of the model)
Present the work to the AOCS/GNC Competence Centre within Deimos

Applicant Specification:
Engineering Graduate or Undergraduate entering their final year.
Academic: Background in mathematics, control systems, modelling
Minimum requirements:
Passion and enthusiasm
Experience in Matlab/Simulink.
Interest in satellite design and simulation
Desirable requirements:
Some knowledge of C coding would be beneficial.
Knowledge of spacecraft propulsion (including liquid rocket engines)
Process details:
8 weeks minimum fixed term contract to be agreed with successful candidate
In-person Induction Event to be held on [date], and an in-person/hybrid Showcase Event to be held at the [place/date]
5 days holiday to be taken during the placement
