Job Description

Overview 

We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to be a key member of a multi-disciplinary Business Systems team who support, maintain and develop the principal business systems, processes and information upon which the Foundation relies. You will be joining at an exciting time as we implement a bold and ambitious team roadmap which will generate the information to inform decision making for our charitable objectives. 

       This role will be the business intelligence expert and responsible not only for the design, production and maintenance of data visualisations to deliver business insight; but also, for supporting the ongoing development and implementation of our management information strategy, for which you’ll need to quickly build a good sense of our data, businesses and a great rapport with our users.

Reporting to 

Business Systems Manager 

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Build customised, usable dashboards and reports in different systems (Salesforce and Tableau). 

  • Learn and fully understand the data landscape of the Foundation’s Business Systems. 

  • Understand the end-to-end life cycle of our data to effectively review and validate the data within it. 

  • Actively participate in and contribute to architecture/design discussions and decisions. 

  • Gather end user reporting and dashboard requirements. 

  • Support users with the navigation and interpretation of dashboards devising one-off or ongoing training where appropriate 

  • Take responsibility of the maintenance and support of Business Intelligence solutions, including the logging, tracking and ultimate resolution of user support requests. 

  • Communicate insights from data to senior management and across the organisation to influence improvements to business process and  

  • Provide a consistent and approachable point of contact for users and other stakeholders. 

  • Support the creation of the management information strategy. 

  • Create system documentation relevant for business intelligence. 

  • Proactively identify opportunities for system improvement and business intelligence enhancements. 

 

Experience, skills and knowledge 

  • Experience in a similar role, being one of the few business intelligence experts in an organisation, ready to champion its benefits (essential). 

  • Demonstrable knowledge and track record of delivering business intelligence solutions (essential). 

  • Experience in learning new systems to understand data, then utilise the data to produce impactful business intelligence (essential). 

  • Experience joining data from different systems to produce succinct dashboards 

  • Experience with identifying and managing the impact of data quality issues on business intelligence solutions (essential). 

  • Approachable to end users and clear when explaining the uses of business intelligence solutions (essential). 

  • Committed to agile principles (essential). 

  • Creative and with design flair – able to design dashboards which are intuitive and easy to use (essential). 

  • Experience with the use of Tableau (desirable). 

  • A strong understanding of SQL (desirable). 

  • Experience creating Salesforce reports and dashboards (desirable). 

  • Experience of working to agile principles, especially Scrum (desirable). 

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel/data handling skills (desirable).
