The Role
The Data and Analytics Lead for London Sport is a new role that will support our work with large data sets and our increasing work with open data.
This role sits within the Innovation and Impact team and will involve implementing innovative data solutions and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance and evidence the impact of our work to promote sport and physical activity. There are opportunities to grow with the role, and the ability to shape our data and analytics strategy going forward.
What you’ll do:
Develop, deliver, and maintain systems and processes to collect, analyse and share sport and physical activity-related data. Part of this includes building and managing a data ecosystem to ensure data storage and formatting is standardised.
Implement and optimise innovative data-driven approaches to support data-driven decision-making internally across London Sport operations and externally with its stakeholders.
Collaborate with external stakeholders and partners to identify data needs and opportunities.
Work with the Impact and Innovation Directorate to identify opportunities to work with open data.
Line manage people and budgetary resources.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects working with big data sets and monitor performance against set targets.
Generate and present regular reports, showcasing the impact of our data strategy to internal and external stakeholders.
Who you are:
You have at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline/professional certification in data management, analytics, or related areas.
High level experience in data management and analytics.
A proven ability to perform in-depth primary and secondary analysis (statistical analysis, data modelling, etc.) of large-scale and/or complex data sets.
Proficiency in data analytics tools and languages such as SQL, Python, R, and familiarity with relevant frameworks.
Desirable skills that could be relevant to the role include data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) and or the ability to work with Open Data (Hadoop, Spark etc).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey and present technical concepts and data-driven insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Familiarity with data governance frameworks, best practices and commitment to continuous professional development in data management and analytics.
Key Details:
Full-time permanent contract preferably but flexible to Part-time permanent contracts
Salary £45,000 pro rata
Offering 28 days’ holiday + 8 public holidays + 5 volunteer days + Christmas Closure

Flexible working: we use a model of 2 plus days in our central London office at House of Sport and working from home, with travel required throughout London
