  • Monitoring issues and strategies in the sector and grant-making field that are relevant to our work, and actively engaging other programme team members, as well as our grant partners. This includes learning from our own monitoring and evaluation, and making wider connections with national policy and practice.

  • Designing research, projects or evaluations, commission and supervising consultants as and when we are developing larger projects.

  • Supervising interns/fellows as required.

  • Contributing to Oak-wide projects where required, including seeking opportunities for cross-programme funding of projects.

  • Performing all other relevant duties that may be assigned by the director.

  • Commitment to grassroots action, and the involvement of people with lived experience in achieving social change – ideally gained from demonstrable experience of working in this way.

  • Demonstrable commitment to civil society; familiarity and solidarity with social justice movements and work that connects mainstream organisations to grassroots work and engaging effectively with communities.

  • Strategic, research and analytical skills, including in learning, monitoring, and evaluation, and the ability to synthesise and communicate information.

  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated experience of developing work remotely.

  • Ability to juggle a wide range of responsibilities that may demand ongoing reprioritisation.

  • Understanding of not-for-profit and/or governmental financial reporting and budgeting, or willingness to learn.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to write detailed grant proposals for Trustees to consider and approve.

  • Willingness to travel, up to a maximum of 25 per cent per year.

  • A commitment to Oak’s organisational values.
