London Councils

Job Description
Main purpose of job
To support the achievement of London Councils’ vision, priorities and targets through delivering high-quality communications products, including, but not limited to, events, publications, social media and website content
To administer the London Borough Directors of Communications Network, for example planning agendas, inviting speakers and being a first point of contact for network members
To assist the Promotions team in the planning and delivery of London Councils’ campaigns
Support the collection and analysis of data to monitor the impact of communications activities
To assist other areas of the communications team, such as publications and digital, where necessary
Job activities
Events
1. Assist in the development and administration of an annual programme of London Councils events, conferences and seminars (online, hybrid and in-person)
2. Provide advice, practical support and guidance to staff involved in running events.
3. Represent London Councils in a public relations capacity at events including, where necessary, those organised by boroughs and other key stakeholders.
Stakeholder engagement
4. Work with the director of communications to plan regular meetings for the London Borough Directors of Communications Network, including inviting guest speakers.
5. Maintain accurate contact lists for London Councils’ key stakeholders and circulate important information and briefings to relevant contacts.
Social media
6. Develop content for London Councils’ Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn channels.
Internal communications
7. Work with the publishing manager to write and edit the weekly staff newsletter, encouraging staff from across the organisation to contribute.
8. Work with colleagues in the communications team and the Director of Corporate Governance to deliver an annual all-staff event for London Councils’ staff.
9. Create and publish content on the staff intranet and encourage and enable staff across the organisation to create digital content.
Campaigns
10. Work with the promotions manager and other members of the communications team on campaigns which highlight London Councils’ policy positions to key stakeholders
Publications
11. Work with the publications manager to edit and layout policy reports.
12. To provide advice and guidance to staff and others on the London Councils’ brand.
Administration
13. Obtain quotes and administer orders, invoices and financial processes in accordance with London Councils financial processes and regulations.
14. To carry out administrative tasks for the communications team.
15. To carry out any other duties appropriate to the post.
