Summary of Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Consultant to support our growing work helping clients to design, implement and manage supplier engagement and capacity-building programs to drive sustainability within their supply chain. As our leading clients set ambitious sustainability goals and policies, they can no longer only focus on their own company operations. Engaging the supply chain is a challenging but critical area for companies to drive environmental and social transformation, and they are increasingly seeking our help to develop and deploy effective supplier engagement programs that leverage technology, best practices, collaborative networks and deliver measurable performance improvement against their public facing goals.
This role will be client-facing and require direct engagement with a significant volume of suppliers as well as client Sustainability, Sourcing and/or Procurement teams. This role will focus on establishing engagement program policies and processes, setting up and maintaining supplier tracking and data-collection systems, developing supplier-facing guidance and training materials, and directly communicating with and responding to supplier questions as well as providing 1:1 and many supplier training modules and/or leading meetings to move them through a maturity process. For example, helping a supplier develop its first GHG emissions inventory to setting an ambitious science-based GHG emissions target.
Projects and clients will span across a diverse set of industries, ranging from Technology to Consumer Goods, to Food and Agriculture, and may focus on a variety of sustainability focus areas, such as greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs)/science-based targets (SBTs), waste, fair labor, and/or diversity, equity and inclusion metrics and activities.
Key Responsibilities
Managing and leading supplier engagement related projects
Developing and maintaining all supplier-facing content (guidance, training materials, etc.) in an organized and easy-to-navigate way using Office/Microsoft tools (e.g. Sharepoint) to client-provided software tools to 3rd party software platforms
Developing and issuing supplier communications for regular announcements and reminders
Tracking and sharing external resources, tools, webinars on prioritized sustainability topics (GHG’s/SBTs, etc.)
Developing, deploying, and tracking supplier data-collection surveys (may be existing tools like CDP, client-provided software tools, 3rd party platforms or custom surveys)
Analyzing and drawing insights from supplier-reported data to inform supplier engagement program strategy, resourcing needs and timelines
Monitoring and responding to supplier questions and support requests on expectations, requirements, and where to find more information
Organizing and delivering training webinars and any other related events
Active one-on-one outreach and coaching of prioritized suppliers
Managing any internal systems, platforms, or processes necessary for the engagement program
Evaluating and recommending technology and software solutions that can be used to optimize the supplier engagement program and process
Key Requirements
At least 6-years professional experience
Proven work experience working in supply chain, sourcing/procurement, or any supplier-facing role
An established understanding of sustainability issues is preferred, especially around energy and greenhouse gas emissions, science-based targets, or other relevant topics
Excellent communications and project management skills
Strong consulting skills
Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to respond positively to pressure and take a flexible approach to a dynamic, fast moving and changing work environment
Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise
Able to work on virtual teams across different time zones
Our ideal candidate is mission driven and wants to flourish in a global team working at the leading edge of sustainability.
