Job Description
The Business Systems Analyst - Fundraising Operations is a critical part of the IT team and has the primary responsibility of overseeing the Advancement applications and database to support Advancement stewarding and fundraising goals.
This role provides specialized applications and systems expertise and assistance within NOLS's Information Technology systems portfolio to improve the business systems processes and support business strategies. Analyzes new and existing technologies; and designs, implements, and supports critical business functions. Aids in process improvement activities and in development of procedures and policies for the Advancement department.
The goal of the Business System Analyst (BSA) position is to ensure that Advancement software solutions are effectively implemented, used, maintained, and integrated with other solutions to yield consistent, accurate and secure data in meeting the needs of the Advancement department. The Business Systems Analyst - Fundraising Operations will assist in leading the implementation of NOLS’ new D365 Fundraising and Engagement software application (Mission CRM) including understanding of data flow between systems.

What does a Business Systems Analyst - Fundraising Operations do?
This role is in our IT Applications and Data team.
This role is at mid-level which means you will be involved in the following activities:
Oversees database to ensure quality of constituent records and fundraising data
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the IT needs of the Advancement department
Determines how changes to a project, system and/or process will affect the business and systems
Advise on current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs
Develop and communicate detailed specifications and/or project documentation for implementation of new software and tools
Communicate project expectations and progress to stakeholders
Coordinate and perform testing of system modifications
Assist in developing and creating lists, queries and dashboards to support Advancement initiatives
Support and train staff on advancement and fundraising software applications.
Lead new data project initiatives as necessary in the analysis of data to support advancement and fundraising initiatives
Monitor and troubleshoot data issues
Support other IT department initiatives and projects as assigned

Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; or equivalent experience
Experience in a non-profit, fundraising organization required
Extensive knowledge of development/fundraising processes, best practices and techniques
Extensive experience with fundraising software, queries, reporting to support Advancement fundraising efforts required
Experience in implementing fundraising applications a plus
Knowledge of Microsoft D365 software a plus
Working knowledge of database queries (theory and design)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
In your first 6 months, you will:
Be the IT SME that assist NOLS in the implementation of NOLS new D365 Mission CRM system for the Advancement department
Assist in transforming and converting data from the Raiser’s Edge 7 system to Mission CRM
Assist in scheduling and driving UAT for the new system including developing test plans and scripts
Provide tier-3 support for the Advancement users and systems
