Job Description
Summary
We are the public body that looks after England`s historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand, value and care for them.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to put your proven expertise to work in England’s most important historic designed landscapes and urban spaces, making a difference in communities across the (Midlands).
We need a full-time, dynamic and resourceful Landscape Architect to be part of our Midlands team with substantial professional experience that includes the historic environment. You will provide expert advice internally and externally, with lead on key casework, design, grants and relationship building across the whole Region.

What you will be doing:
From great country houses, public parks and cemeteries to public realm you will:
· Play a leading role on pre-application advice and formal consultations for planning permission and other consents.
· Give advice to owners and funding partners on restoration of designed landscapes, and their positive management.
· Lead grant and advice work on the protection and conservation of designed landscapes at risk or under threat.
· Advise on the design and repair of public realm in the wider historic environment, particularly in relation to placemaking in urban contexts.
· Put our Constructive Conservation philosophy into action to manage change and sustain the significance of the region's most important heritage landscapes.
· Work with national specialists, helping develop national guidance and advice
· Build and maintain relationships with our partners; private owners, charitable trusts, consultants, garden societies, and other statutory consultees.
What we are looking for;
· Substantial professional experience in practice as a Landscape Architect grounded in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Landscape Architecture (or a closely related discipline).
· Chartered Member of Landscape Institute or eligible to apply for fully chartered status (by having completed the Pathway to Chartership or other eligibility based on Landscape Institute criteria).
· You will have a broad and critical understanding of the development of designed landscapes in England, their management and conservation, including design in historic context.
· You will have a solid understanding of the planning system in England and demonstrable experience in the following areas;
o design and delivery of complex landscape projects, including public realm works,
o conservation management plan production and implementation,
o integrated management of natural and historic assets in designed landscape projects
Please note that:
The role requires regular travel to sites not serviced by public transport.
The role is likely to involve access at height and negotiating confining spaces.
The role may require occasional attendance at community meetings, which are usually held in the evenings or on weekends.
