About the position:
This is a unique opportunity for an early- to mid-career professional (i.e., approximately 3-6 years post-Bachelor’s) with experience or interest in impact investing and strategy consulting. The Associate will gain diverse experience in Tideline’s consulting engagements, including by leading research and analysis to develop original insights, contributing to the design of analytical frameworks, participating in team brainstorms, developing compelling client-facing presentations, and supporting project coordination and management, among other responsibilities.
The initial role duration is expected to be for a minimum of 3 months, up to 5 months. There may be opportunity for a permanent position at the end of this period, subject to the business’s needs and client demand.
The Tideline team is currently working entirely remotely, and timing and plans for returning to the office remain uncertain. Candidates must be willing to work between Pacific and Eastern Time Zone hours from a suitable home office location. If a permanent or extended arrangement is to be pursued following the initial agreement, candidates should be willing to co-locate to San Francisco or New York with proper safety measures undertaken, if and when it is safe for employees to return to office.
Core responsibilities:
Lead research and analysis, including literature reviews, summaries of findings, participation in expert interviews, etc., including overseeing Analyst contributions to research workstreams as needed
Develop compelling client materials synthesizing key findings, including in PowerPoint presentations and written report formats
Present findings to key client stakeholders and internal team members
Contribute critical and creative thinking to team meetings, brainstorming, and project planning
Support quantitative and financial analysis, including modeling efforts as needed
Support Project Managers in executing project and client management tasks
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has experience in finance, research, or consulting, has knowledge of impact investing, and has an entrepreneurial, collaborative disposition. The candidate is exceptionally well-organized with an eye for detail; communicates well; and is committed to advancing social and environmental outcomes. Desirable qualifications include:
3-6 years post-Bachelor's degree work experience or equivalent
Experience in strategy or management consulting, finance (investment bank, M&A advisory, and/or private equity), impact investing, philanthropy, and/or research
Knowledge of impact investing, finance, and/or philanthropy topics
Experience conducting financial modeling, investment analysis, or other forms of quantitative analysis
Strong design sensibilities
Minimum qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Strong written and oral communication skills
Skilled at and affinity for research, with ability to think critically and creatively to distill relevant insights
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, key for working collaboratively in a remote team environment
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and discretion
Ability to manage multiple tasks with high attention to detail and organization
Adept at using Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Sense of humor and self-awareness
