Job Description

The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) is looking for an exceptional candidate to join as Senior Advisor.

At BIT, a Senior Advisor is someone who can lead projects, people and partnerships. The ideal candidate is someone passionate about behavioural science and is ready for the opportunity to apply evidence-based designs for government agencies, not-for-profits and philanthropic organisations.

This role is a Full-Time Permanent position with a hybrid working pattern. Preference for Sydney based candidates.

What does a Senior Advisor do?

Our Senior Advisors are responsible for leading design and delivery of projects by steering teams (both within BIT and within clients’ teams) as they complete literature reviews, quantitative analysis, field work, and randomised controlled trials. They are expected to represent BIT as an expert in behavioural science and research methods as well as managing client relationships to establish, maintain and deliver a successful portfolio of projects.

What makes a great Senior Advisor at BIT?

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience developing and delivering policy in government, academia, or consulting.

  • Expertise in behavioural science and direct experience of how it can be applied to help solve complex real-life policy problems.

  • Ability to quickly assimilate complex issues across multiple policy areas and distil insights into practical solutions.

  • Experience in the design and implementation of rigorous evaluations, including but not limited to randomised controlled trials.

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect and generate new business.

  • Excellent organisational & project management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication for a wide range of audiences.

  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to exercise good judgement in a rapidly changing and ambiguous environment.

  • Demonstrated excellence in people management and coaching skills, particularly in small teams.

  • A Bachelor, Masters or PhD in a relevant subject area (including, but not limited to: behavioural economics, psychology, design thinking, evaluation methods).
