The Student Fellowship is one of Startmate’s flagship programs that has ignited a spark for over 1000 students to become the next generation of startup founders and operators. We want to 10x the impact and are looking for someone to build the blueprint for a new era of student inspiration.
In this role, the Student Fellowship will be yours to unleash its full potential. In addition, you will pave the way for our next student initiative. As the mastermind behind the students' business unit, you will shape the future, determining the who, what, where, when and how for this initiative. From PhD students to high school students, the possibilities are limitless. Startmate is your boundless playground to leave an indelible mark on the startup ecosystem.
Role Scope: Your Responsibilities
Responsibility 1: Development & launch of Startmate's next student initiative
Description: Launch a program for a new segment of students, and grow this to be highly impactful and financially sustainable.
Example: Research the customer group; run an experiment initiative; evaluate the success key metrics; brand building.
Responsibility 2: Student Fellowship program delivery & iteration
Description: Facilitate and iterate the Student Fellowship twice per year, including the following components:
Community outreach and brand building
Inspiring content sessions
Coaching and peer groups
A challenge that helps founders come together and test an idea
Example: Vet & select the cohort; Customer journey mapping; Selecting speakers & outreach; Session facilitation; Program analysis and iteration
Responsibility 3: Community management & engagement
Description: Engage, manage and grow the student communities and champion these customer groups within Startmate.
Example: Run ongoing engagement initiatives + invite them to broader SM events; engage with students on Slack; unearth their stories to be distributed.
Position Requirements
Community Superhero - As the custodian of the student communities, you understand and empathise with their pain points and barriers to growth. With high EQ, exceptional people skills, and an inspiring energy, you build trust and relationships, accelerating their careers.
Organisation & Get-Shit-Done wizard - Mastering personal systems and efficiency. You thrive under pressure and ambiguity, and make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
Creative problem-solver - You prevent, manage, and iterate solutions based on learnings, troubleshooting on the fly.
Strategic thinker - You think critically and strategically about opportunities in the student space, make well-reasoned decisions, and have the ownership to execute.
