Community Southwark is the umbrella body for charities and community groups in Southwark.
We have 1,000 not-for profit group members and over 60 years’ experience of offering free services and making connections, including:
Advice and training (e.g. governance, funding, evaluation and impact)
Advertising, matching, and celebrating volunteers including corporate volunteers
Networks to bring groups together and influence decision makers
Tailored support for ethnic minority led groups
Information sharing through our e-bulletins, social media, venues and funding databases
We have strong and productive links with funders, Southwark Council, businesses, and the local NHS. We host Healthwatch and a network of Health Ambassadors. We work in partnership to support thriving neighbourhoods and community-led solutions to the borough’s deep-rooted inequalities.

The Role
We are seeking a creative and motivated individual committed to helping charities and community groups to secure corporate funding. The successful candidate will identify potential corporate partners, assist our members to develop corporate fundraising strategies, and build relationships to maximise donations and support. This is a new role sitting at the heart of our volunteering team and working closely with our Corporate Volunteering Officer. It is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop the most effective model of supporting our members with their corporate fundraising.
Job Description
Relationship management
Identify, build and manage relationships with corporate partners
Respond to enquiries from corporate partners
Work with colleagues across the Community Southwark team to support VCS groups which have not historically had corporate relationships
Training and support
Deliver Corporate Advice Appointments for VCS groups wishing to create corporate fundraising strategies.
Deliver Corporate Fundraising training workshops and offer one-to-one support with participants’ corporate fundraising approaches.
Communications
Promote specific funding opportunities to corporate partners
Facilitate relationships between VCS groups and corporate partners which lead to donations through events, newsletters, and workshops
Celebrate positive case studies of successful corporate donations
General
Support Community Southwark’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives
Undertake other tasks from time to time and as appropriate, that may be required by management in line with the goals of the organisation
Work within all of Community Southwark’s policies, and help to ensure that equity, diversity and inclusion is integral to the organisation’s work
Perform five days (pro rata) consultancy on behalf of the organisation
Changes

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed
An experienced relationship builder, creating networks and connecting others
Experience of corporate fundraising with a track record of securing donations
Strategic vision – able to think through opportunities and plan for the long term
Excellent written and communication skills
An understanding and appreciation of the VCS and the corporate sector and the potential for partnerships
Behavioural competencies
Confident with a range of audiences, including those in senior positions
High level listening, influencing and negotiating skills
Extremely well organised, flexible and proactive
A bold and inclusive approach, with a commitment to making a difference
Additional Information
Salary: £34,026 per annum (pro rata)
Contract Duration: Permanent
Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week
Location: The office is in 11 Market Place, London, SE16 3UQ for a minimum of one day per week. The postholder will also be required to work in the community and may work the rest of the week from home.
