Good Business

Salary £27,000-29,000

Job Description

Good Business is a market-leading sustainability agency. We help business and brands succeed in the future by showing that they can make it a better place to be. We have over 20 years’ experience of working with clients to deliver sustainability, behaviour change and social impact, making us pioneers of the power of good.

We are looking for a Junior Sustainability Consultant to join our team from early 2021.

This is an exciting role for someone who wants to apply their environmental knowledge and analytical skills to help businesses, brands, government and NGOs tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time. How can we accelerate the transition to a net-zero economy in a way that makes sense for each sector? How can businesses use offsets to help reduce their impact in a meaningful way? How do we turn the latest climate models into practical, commercial solutions for businesses?

Our clients, who include household names such as Just Eat, Virgin Atlantic, Avon, Heathrow Airport and The Coca-Cola Company, as well as social enterprises, charities, foundations, local authorities and start-ups, look to us to help them solve these issues.

In this role, you will be involved in client-focused assignments from the outset as a part of our entrepreneurial and lively team, taking increasing responsibility for your own projects over time, working with our Director of Sustainability and other consultants. You may be problem-solving how to minimise single-use plastics within the tourism sector, analysing multiple data sources to create a carbon footprint for an FMCG client, or modelling carbon reduction targets and pathways in line with the latest scientific consensus for a food company. You will also support the growth of Good Business by contributing our weekly marketing efforts and identifying new business opportunities.

All of our projects are tailored to our clients’ needs, so although every assignment is different, you will develop skills that apply to a range of projects. You will be a strong communicator and enjoy analysing data, drawing insights and providing recommendations. You will embrace challenges, and work collaboratively and creatively to provide pragmatic solutions.

We have a relaxed and collaborative office culture and although our outputs are very professional, our structure and approach is far from corporate or conventional. Our team is passionate, thoughtful and opinionated, and come from a variety of backgrounds such as science, advertising, history and economics.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is comfortable analysing large data sets and drawing insights from these

  • has a proven interest in business and environmental issues. Knowledge and experience of carbon accounting would be an advantage.

  • has exceptional written, verbal, analytical and communication skills

  • has strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task

  • is fully competent in MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • is cheerful, flexible and adaptable

Start date: As soon as possible

The deadline for applications is 9pm Tuesday 5th January. Note that the Good Business office will be closed from the 24th December until 4th January. If you have any questions about the application process, please contact <claire@good.business>.

We will start shortlisting candidates for the next stage from the 11th January onwards. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a test assessing data analysis skills, and successful candidates will then move to interviews. We expect to be conducting interviews by the end of January. All dates are subject to change.

Please note that we do not hold a sponsorship licence from the UK Border Agency, and as such are not able to employ people who do not have the right to live and work in the UK.
